Wow...25 HOURS! On one book!? I think I've just been talked out of ever listening to books.sindatur wrote:A disk holds up to 79:56. There were 20 files (so 20 Discs). I listen while commuting . On the other hand, a small book like Chronicles of Amber is only about 4 discs.

Lucimay says I can't start "Dust of Dreams" until I read, "Return of the Crimson Guard" so until they get copies at Borderlands or I get together with Lucimay again which is the preferable option, I am going to side track with "Bauchelain and Korbal Broach." Sorry Fist, you will have to wait until I catch up...

Ignore her if you like. It's one piece of information that doesn't impact on the main plot of Erikson's series, even though it's important in the larger scale of the setting.
But then I would say that, as I've pretty much decided against reading any more Esselmont - I have too many other books to read.

But really, I kinda like it because I tend to skip paragraphs and miss things when I'm eager to know what happens. Now I really read/hear it all.

A few weeks back, I snarfed a book called The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It's apparently been out since mid '09, but i just found it in the airport bookstore. It was an enjoyable, quick read -- reads like a gritty Harry Potter. My friend who read it found it a little morbid, but I like morbid. It also pokes a serious bit of fun at the Chronicles of Narnia, which I liked. A sequel is due out this summer. I intend to pick it up for a read.

I'll check back at the bookstore to see if RotCG is in yet and if not I'll perhaps start DoD. We shall see. I am powering through the three short novellas incorporated in Bauchelain and Korbal Broach. It's good stuff.

Picked up "Return of the Crimson Guard" today and just finished "Bauchelain and Korbal Broach." I highly recommend it. It was a great fun read.

"Warbreaker" by Brandon Sanderson. First one I've read by him. I'll finish it, but I'm not terribly impressed -- the two main characters are women, but the most interesting characters are men. And I'm halfway through and I still don't know what the title refers to.
