I was doing that as well on the PS2 until I luckily got a PS3 for Xmas a couple years ago. Thankfully, I didn't have to upgrade much equipment to continue playing RB. The RB drums worked fine, and the only think I had to upgrade was the equipment that did not use a USB port. Pretty much all the RB equipment did, but some of the guitars for GH didn't.

I see all these commercials for shooters and such and wonder if there;s really anything on these current-gen systems that make it worth buying one at the current price, since I dont much like shooters. I would love to play RB3 but Ive got other things to save for currently

I'm not much of a FPS fan myself, but I have found a lot of other options on the PS3. The XBox looks primarily like a system for those that love shooters, but that's an outside opinion. And it is why I didn't invest in the lower priced alternative. When I heard that Team Ico was doing another game on the PS3 only, I figured I'd have to buy one eventually.

I tried out League of Legends this weekend. They seem to bill it as a standalone version of Defense of the Ancients... but I never played that (it's a mod for Warcraft 3), so I can't say how similar / different it is.

Basically, it's a competitive team tower defense game. Except, instead of placing / upgrading towers (the towers are placed at the start of the game), you control individual heroes that aid the creeps in the assault on the opposing team.

god help me...

i bought Rift last night. 8O like i soooooo need to be playing yet
anOTHER addicting mmo.

the graphics are good. the character builds are...well...VERY malleable.

i always thought it would be fun to play a sort of hybrid class of rogue/hunter, or warlock/mage.
in Rift, you can.

haven't done any instances yet but am enjoying the random rift openings where you join a public grp and kill a buncha things emerging and get loots, then leave party and continue on down the road. its fun.

I played in the Beta. It's made by people who used to work on WoW, and you can tell. But to me, there just wasn't all that much substance to it. It has polish in the form of better graphics and some UI touches, but it lacks the polish that comes with working on a game for years and working out what works, which WoW has.

That's the problem any game that tries to imitate WoW has - WoW's been doing it a long time, and has a big head start.

The Witcher. Very adult sword and sorcery RPG. I'm enjoying it. :)

I used to be all about turn-based strategy and RPGs, but now I just play SmallWorlds. It's a 3-D Flash browser game that allows you to make your own point-and-click games.

So far I've made a few interactive original stories and adapted a couple Edward Gorey and Neil Gaiman works to mission form, as well.

*shrug* It's as good a venue as any.

I haven't played anything for around two weeks... just been too busy with stuff.

And then last night I played Civilization until 3am. And I won :D

Started playing Civ 5 again a little... I'm still terrible at it. I play on small maps on low difficulty and still can't do war properly.

While I like the increased strategy due to only 1 unit per tile in Civ 5, I've found the AI quite brutal...

Basically, if you want to win, you have to be stronger than all the AIs combined, because they will gang up on you when they see you doing well.

Heard about it.

I'm busy playing Napoleon: Total War. It's pretty damn good, and I want to get the Peninsular Wars expansion, but I'm hating Steam. Seriously considering going back to pirated games if this is the grief I have to put up with buying things legally.

It's bloody ridiculous.

I bought the discs and it took me 4 hours just to get it to start installing. Then another 3.5 hours for patching. (Bandwidth for which cost me as much as the game did.)

Seriously, Steam is giving you grief? It's the f***ing enlightenment as far as DRM goes... Have you EVER played a game from Ubisoft or EA and dealt with the sh** they force on you?

Sucks about downloading the updates before you could play, but that's not Steam's fault, that's the studio that put it out (2k games? I don't remember).
