:LOLS: Sorry. I guess it's no consolation to know I'm going slow on them...playing more games than reading at the moment... ;)

The Mirror of Her Dreams, for the first time!!!

Such a different style than TCTC, more along the lines of 'classic' fantasy. Though I must say I'm overjoyed that there are no elves, dwarves or trolls. To me that's just 'cookie cutter fantasy'; it gets old real quick (Brooks) and the reason I fell in love with TCTC!!!

Sooo very different!!!!!
There is hope in contradiction. . . . .

Listening to Way Station by Simak. I like it a lot so far, what a contrast with the modern Hamilton stuff.

I read that a couple of months ago. Not bad..I would be curious as to your thoughts on it when you get done.
Spoiler
I didnt like the ending.. it just kind of hung out there with no closure.

YAY! I've told SRD before that MoHD and AMRT are my favorites of his because of the complicated story lines and the way the characters are written. We would love to hear any input you have in the Mordant's Need forum. I purposefully left a copy of MoHD at my Dad's and he loved it too. I guess it's payback for him giving me the Chrons in the first place. But seriously, join us in the MN forum and post thoughts/reactions anything as you read because I would love to hear some fresh reactions as you delve deeper into that series.

Drylor The First Artifact by Ryan Tomasella. It is a fairly new fantasy book but sooooooo good. Here is what it is about (taken from amazon)

When a man wakes up inside a cage that is being carried through an underground city, he has no idea where he is or what has happened to him. As Von, a victim of amnesia, is taken to a jail cell to await his fate amongst elves, humans, dwarfs, gnomes, and halflings, he is told he is a member of the Royal Guard of Genisus. It is not long before he is transported to the palace where he meets an impatient king who eventually returns him to his jail cell while deciding his destiny. As Von's memory slowly returns, he discovers that he is the only one who can protect Drylor-a world that abandoned him-from its greatest evil, his own brother. Through his journey to the truth, Von meets an unlikely group of friends who are willing to sacrifice everything to help him stop his brother Scarlet from annihilating the only world they have ever known. As Von's past becomes clear and reveals his future, he soon realizes the only way he can end his brother's heartless massacres is to find him and kill him.

That looks extremely interesting catfairy-it's on my list. Well, can't find a copy of The Weaponshops and just finished Carey's The Third Millennium so I think it's time to start rereading AATE to catch up with the dissection and my chapter--- :P

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one... I know you can find parts of them in anthologies, but the actual books are a little difficult to find... I figure it's due to the repressive nature of our government... after all, the right to buy Weaponshops is the right to be free

right then, i've got to a point in Perdido Street Station where i'm actually into it and enjoying it. the mood of the thing grows on you. it's brutal, i think, a lot of it. mieville's got a knack for exceedingly descriptive narrative and the gruesome is...well...gruesome, but i'm liking it a lot more than i was.
