Interesting.
Here is a sock stuffed with batting:

Here is that stuffed sock, decorated into a horse's head:

While these can have a broomstick stuck in the open end of the sock to make a cute stick horse, I don't think this is quite the horse's head that ali was intimating (in another thread) that I might find in my bed post-Elohimfest if I offended Don Danlo.

Yeah, no. I was thinking something somewhat more macabre before....
This one's pretty much adorable, tho. (Hmm, looks like liberal use of a hot glue gun would be required. I never got the hang of the hot glue gun...)

Just to tie it all together for those who do not follow every single thread, here in the "Dulcet Tones" thread is the genesis of all this talk of danlo as Godfather and of me finding a horse's head in my bed in a few weeks.

I feel tired. Had a rough day at work. Did an ugly merchandise reset then found out that my night tech had called in sick. We did the best we could with the people I had but the store was not left up to my standards and we were all running around like maniacs trying to get as much done as we could. Then by the time I got to the station I had just missed a train so I had to wait another 22 minutes for the next one. Hopefully tomorrow will go a lot smoother. One other frustration is that the schedule is still not posted for next week. I hate not knowing my days off because it makes it hard to plan them. Grrrr....
Don't worry bison boy, despite my bitching now, I'll be grinning from ear to ear all of Efest.

Hang in there, Jenn -- vacation's coming!
I get to eat out twice today. At lunch, the Lunch Group of Boredom is going out to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate the retiring person's last day. Then tonight is the firm's Decennial Dinner, for people who have worked at the firm for at least ten years. (This is year 12 for me...) My standing policy is that if my employer offers to feed me, I'm there.

In a few weeks and I'll be on holiday with the family! Visiting my uncle in Toowoomba for his 70th Birthday - be interesting to see how he and the community are coping with the aftermath of the devastating floods and friggin tidal wave the swept down the main street earlier this year. Then going to visit friends and family in Bris-vegas, the Gold Coast and beyond!
I feel like I need the break. It's nice to get online again and read all the crap you Watchers have been posting

A good practice, not passing by a free lunch. I'm getting one of those today.
I was way tired, apparently. I overslept the alarm by 45 minutes. Good thing I build in an hour and forty-five before I have to go to work.

I was gonna post this last night, but then I went to bed or something instead...
LF- hahah, awesomeness! Ironic it's just when you were planning on going back to school!
Ali- neeeaat.
Personally, I had some things that were "up to the wire" my senior year, so ...when I found out I was really graduating, that was reassuring.
What's her degree in? (Or Magickmaker if you happen to read this, what did you major in?)
Super-congrats, Caggy! But... a full set? How do you know you have 1 introvert, 1 extrovert, etc.??Cagliostro wrote:Now that the family knows, I can spill the beans to all of you. It looks like the baby that my wife is having in October will be of the female gender. Hurray! Now I've collected the entire set, and no longer have to have any more babies after this one.

Thanks, Linna! She rarely comes by any more, so I will speak for her: she majored in international studies, with a minor in psychology.Linna Heartlistener wrote:Ali- neeeaat.

Hey, I think I've been there. Is that the place with the upright rollercoaster and the face-down free fall ride?Phantasm wrote:Off to a theme park with the family tomorrow - Alton Towers for anyone that knows it.
Looking forward to it as we're meeting up with family there too - good times ahead.
I had a kid punch me for taking him on that ride with me. He then almost threw up. Have fun!

Ok, so mixed blessings. I get to work and I'm getting settled in for my day and Ashlee comes up to me and says, "I'm sorry but I have you closing three days next week." I said, "Oh, well it's ok." and she says, "I have you closing and staying a bit later on Tuesday night because you are the only one I trust to close the store right the night before the visit." We are getting a very serious visit from our new regional vice president (my boss's boss's boss's boss) and the national director of sales and marketing. I paused a second then said, "Was that a big fat compliment?" She laughed and said, "Yes it was, even your close last night was better than some other managers regular closes and you were busy and shorthanded (Alex called in plus Wednesdays I normally close with one less person than all the other nights have). Nice job." I was happy all day and shared my compliment with my closing team and thanked them for making me look good. On the down side, I have to work until ten on Tuesday night making the store gleam. On the up side, Ashlee has agreed that I only do the absolute must merchandise resets so that I can concentrate on some other cleaning/fixing projects the rest of the days I work between now and the visit.
And it's just nice to have my hard work recognized, acknowledged and appreciated. Ashlee doesn't give out compliments on things other than sales numbers all that often so it was quite a big deal. On top of that I feel like I got a lot accomplished today. I finished up Seth's audit reports for him by taking on the ones he hates the most and finished his receiving paperwork and filed it, did a nasty merchandise reset on laptop accessories that I had to improvise on because the reset didn't take into account some internal electrical power strips blocking the peg hooks, I did all of the cash office chores because Daniela was slacking off and I will need to speak to her on that front, I cleaned receiving, walked the whole store and helped to make it gorgeous, let people go home early on their requests because they rocked it out for me, and had a pretty fabulous day.
I also got to meet an adorable chihuahua on the way home on the train. He was a long hair black and white teacup named Remy. He fell in love with me. His mom was apologizing because Remy kept outright disobeying her and jumping off the seat opposite me and trying to get in my lap. I think it was my awesome scritching of known chihuahua melting spots such as front armpits and back of the ear base and top of the tail base so he was unable to do anything but melt on to the floor and try to bend around and lick my hand. It was very amusing and very sweet. It's always a good day when I get some unexpected fuzzy befriending in. Therefore, hugs of happy to everyone, I'm sending some happy karma to all the watchers just because I am brimming with it and have plenty to share.
