White Gold Dollars, or WGDs, are like points you get when you post or start a thread. They can also be donated from one Watcher to another. Tokens and HPs are similar, but Tokens are awarded only in Mallory's and HPs only in Gravin Threndor.
All can be used in the various stores here on the Watch to buy item tags, like my wraith, etc.
Tokens are only valid in The $2 Shop and HPs are valid only in the Gravin Threndor stores. All other stores take WGDs.
To thank someone, click on the "goodpost" button in the upper right of the post you want to thank. Your user name will then appear in the lower left of their post as having thanked them.

Perhaps that's a strange question - but are there any restrictions or recommendations on thanking or not?
It's just that I see people with thousands of posts and quite little amounts of both "Thanks" and "Thanked". Or is it simply that people prefer to have a really serious reason for thanking, or find it useless, since it has no practical meaning?

The "goodpost" button was an add-on to the Watch a few years back. Typically I forget it's there, and just respond in the thread with a "great post" or somesuch.
I don't think there are any stats hereabouts for number of thanks, as there are for some other things. Altho there may be -- I don't care enough about stats to go looking for them.

The thanks given and received by each Watcher is listed on the left side of their posts, underneath name, title, avatar, gender / Ranyhyn, join date and post count. It is also listed on profile pages.
However, I don't think there is anywhere that lists cosolidated statistics like top thankers or thankees.

Which has been a bone of contention from the beginning, which is why (I suspect) more people don't use the feature.Murrin wrote:There's also no easy way for anyone to know which post they were thanked for.

Well, the post is marked when thanked, but the original poster isn't sent a notice that a post was thanked, and unless they happen to go back and reread a post which was thanked, they may never know that one was.Murrin wrote:There's also no easy way for anyone to know which post they were thanked for.
Unless the thanker tells the thankee to look at it, eh?

Thank you. I had thoughts like that, but wasn't sure.sgt.null wrote:seems i have some but no idea for what.
send me wgd's or hp's - much easier way to thankee me.
So, I can use the "goodpost" button - it's like saying thank you, but not being sure if you're going to be heard, also I can simply write "thank you" in a post later, and I can send WGDs, HPs and apparently also Tokens.
If I understood right - with the "Donate" button. Tried to send you HP, did it go well or did I manage to screw up somehow?

The donations for WGDs can be screwey as far as acknowledging where they came from at times. Check you outbox or sent PMs. If the receiver was told they received them, you should have a sent PM stating so. Otherwise, check the number of WGDs you have with the number of ones you sent. If it is lower than you had, they had to have gone somewhere.Effaeldm wrote:If I understood right - with the "Donate" button. You only get a pm on donation if the donor writes in the little PM box next to the amounts. No message, no PM.
The Good Post button...uh, yeah...who remembers it? Also, I notice we call it thanks.
That's because it used to say "thanks" on it. And we can't change it in the column on the left, so it's all a bit confusing. I also notice that forums added after it was implemented don't have it enabled.

Thank you, I wasn't likely to get to know it otherwise - thought the message box was there for something anyway
Now I have an even stranger question - my post, just up from here, where I tried to sum all I was told on this, was thanked by Danlo. There's nothing really interesting in that post, why then?
