And I thought it was an all round amazing film.

I thought POTC was terrific. Johnny Depp was indeed inegral to my enjoyment of the film. All in all it was a clever, amusing and very entertaining film. I bought the dvd and I plan to enjoy it again very soon.

I went to see it thinking "huh... it must be bad, based on a Disney ride... lame..."
And I went out from the teather wanting to be a pirate and have a ship and sail the Caribbean and say: " Arrrrh ye landlubber" . A total pirate convert...
I loved this film! It was like an adventure matiné of old but with better special effects

I'll just add another quote from the invaluable Mr Rilstone and his review of PotC (www.aslan.demon.co.uk/pirates.htm):
I have never been to Disneyland. I can however, think of much worse things to base action movies on than popular theme-park rides. Thousand page long linguistically inspired three volume novels, to take a random example. Theme park rides and action movies have a good deal in common: both are basically sequences of thrilling set pieces between which the viewer is propelled at break neck speed whether he likes it or not.
