Don't avoid the Watch -- just stay out of the TC forums 'til you've caught up on the books.

Ok. Turns out that the OD Emeryville got robbed at gunpoint and several employees were held hostage. Only one that I worked with, Chai was the manager on duty. Apparently the relatively new tech guy who trained at Berkeley briefly, Richard, needed money so he schemed with some guy to rob the place and split the money. Richard let him in after hours. The guy was apparently wearing a guy fawkes mask circa V for Vendetta. Anyway, they got everyone out and then swat team swarmed the building and found the guy hiding in the ceiling over the break room. The store was closed today, obviously and some of the Berkeley guys went in to help clean up the swat team mess. Zainab says they are having counselors in tomorrow to talk to everyone and the folks that were there are being given a few days off. Very exciting stuff.

I know Sorus! I'll dress like Leia from Jabba's ship and you dress like wonder woman circa Linda Carter and we will rob our store at super light proton cannon point and escape through the portal into the magical furniture department and fly off on a couple of Aladin rugs! This totally could work. They would never know it was us and it's the perfect getaway plan!

Better yet, after we swipe the rugs we should split up to throw off any pursuit and meet back up at Foul's Creche to divvy up the loot and then I say we go on a celebrational bender at Mallory's before showing back up to work on Monday like nothing happened.

Sorus, you live in SF home of the Castro. There must be a hundred drag queen stores sporting WW outfits that are an easy bus ride. I say we pick a night when Gil is closing because Derek may be able to see through our clever disguises. Also, by Tuesday I am going to have a book for you. A short one that I want you to read because I had it on my list, never got around to it and then last night I was going through some stuff and found it and so I started it today and can't hardly put it down. It's so wildly imaginative and funny and deeply philosophical and yet still ridiculous but in a good way that I am riveted. I forced myself to stop reading tonight otherwise I'll finish the book and realize it's three in the morning and I have to be at work at eight.
On other notes, had a nice day at Rockaway with Moose and BGB and our friends Francis, Niall and their puppy Amelia. We ate pork verde sandwiches with coleslaw on top and drank ginger ale and cherry infused bourbon cocktails. We all ran in the sand, Francis, myself and the dogs more so than Niall and BGB and I know I'll be feeling it a bit tomorrow but it's a good thing, I need the exercise. Francis was commenting on how Moose is losing some weight and I know he is since he isn't eating the lion's share of Millie's food. It's harder for me to see since I see him every day but she's right. His neck profile is definitely different and his backside is getting narrower and his chest to belly line has more definition. That's a good thing. Now if my belly line would just follow suit. I also figured out where Francis puts the food. She's a tiny flat bellied five foot tall thin girl and in some region of my mind I realized she had big boobs for an asian girl. Today I realized that she stores her food in her boobs for sure, I think she might be sporting just shy of double d's. BGB was apparently aware of this instantaneously upon meeting her but i didn't so having known Francis for several years it just today became apparent to me how ostentatious her bosom really is. Beach wear reveals a lot about a person so now I have a new theory. She stores the food in her boobs like a camel and doesn't have to eat for a week. How else can a tiny ninety pound girl eat twice what I do and never gain a pound and sport a rack like that?
Anyway, great day. I needed it. Run on the sand, splash my feet in the water, great company, seeing my Mooseman run like a maniac. It's always the happy moments in life that count the most.

That's awesome! You're so right. A-shopping I shall go.Cameraman Jenn wrote:Sorus, you live in SF home of the Castro. There must be a hundred drag queen stores sporting WW outfits that are an easy bus ride.

Blah. So my vacation request was ignored again. I can't decide if I should push for it anyway (it's just two days and I rarely ask for anything, never get what I ask for, and they bloody well owe me) - it all depends on whether the current regime will still be in command two weeks from now, because I feel comfortable asking them to cover for me, whereas if we get a new manager before then, it's just going to make a really bad first impression. I'm trying to tell myself that it doesn't matter and I can't afford it anyway... But it does matter, and I'm sick of this passive/aggressive crap - and being told that I shouldn't bother applying for a full-time spot at another store because my numbers aren't good enough but apparently I'm so indispensable that I can't have a day off.

It was an extremely busy day. Which would be good, if I liked my job. But at least it's better than the slow days.
I need to find something better, but I'm terrified of being unemployed. I have too many bills right now, I have essentially no money saved, and I've seen too many people go months (or years) w/o work.
In other words, I'm trapped by my job. But I'm getting more training, so my duties are more varied... It also means I'll get to do more banker stuff, and spend less time in a teller window.
Although I'm officially a banker, our branch only has a partial FTE for a banker, and another partial FTE for a teller, and I'm covering the combination of the two. Which sucks, because I hate tellering, and I try to stay busy enough with PB stuff that I open my cash drawer as little as possible. Unfortunately, today - despite being really busy - I was busy with teller transactions, to the point where I didn't even sign on at my desk, & just took a stack of work to a teller window instead.
But like I said, it's better to be busy doing something I don't like than bored because it's slow.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. The thought of being unemployed scares the hell out of me. And I keep telling myself that I've had worse jobs (which is very, very true), but it's rough sometimes and I am feeling extremely expendable right now.
