Which one?

Some of my pets in WoW have Malazan names, though my RL cats were born before I got into the series.

Can you tell me what page this started for you? I still have not progressed beyond page 185, after four years of it sitting on my night table...

I don't see how you can't meet Tattersail and not be interested (and this is from someone who lost interest in Memories of Ice 500 pages in :P )...

His name derives from Quick Ben.

But you're not gonna tell us what the derived name is??

As for the other conversation, it's beyond me how anybody isn't entirely captivated by every single page. Malazan is an absolute good. It's the very definition. Is Malazan good? Well, is sugar sweet?

NEVER! I'll write it very small, though: Quick. Just Quick

It's almost as good as AATE, but not quite ;)

I think I was probably hooked in the first chapter, when we transition from Ammanas and Cotillion stepping out and looking over the people of the village to Ganoes Paran riding through those villagers' corpses.

For me so far, Tattersail is the only saving grace. But not enough to encourage me to continue plodding through.

Me too, luci. In particular:
A new voice spoke behind them, a woman's, imperious and cold. "Commander."

Both soldiers turned, but without haste. The commander said to his companion, "The new company needs help down there. Send Dujek and a wing, and get some sappers to contain the fires - wouldn't do to have the whole city burn."

The soldier nodded, marched away, sparing the woman not a single glance.

I'm on page 136. Just got past
Spoiler
Tattersail's fight with the Hound
, now I'm in a newly introduced characters dream sequence (prophecy?). But the point I was at when I posted was
Spoiler
the introduction of the Bridgeburners after the huge battle.

I don't remember the exact moment that I got hooked - I did find it slow going at first, mainly because there was so much happening that it was difficult to put it all into context. So many characters, so many personalities, such a well-developed world - it was a bit overwhelming.

I think Tattersail was the first character that really stood out for me - or maybe Sorry, can't remember which was introduced first.

Couldn't tell you exactly when I got hooked, but it was about 100 pages into GotM. :)

Finished DotD's Blackbirch Woods last night. It was pretty good. :)

Next up: Underground by Kat Richardson. It's urban fantasy. I may or may not have read it before -- I got it from the same friend who usually loans me these types of books, and I can't remember whether I've read it or not.

Eight books in and still not hooked. I just read 'em so I know what everyone is talking about around here.

More than I've done, way.
From what I hear, I would really benefit in comprehending some of the stuff that others did/do in Pantheon if I were to just read Malazan...

"A Fine and Private Place" by Peter S. Beagle. I'm loving it and going to make Sorus read it next.

I'm still thinking I might have read it years ago, but I don't remember it at all, and resisting looking it up because I don't want spoilers.

Man, I couldn't do that. Not with those books. As it is I find 5 & 7 a bit of a schlep.
