Worst Fail Ever

My dad rode a lawnmower to my house today. HE LIVES DOWN THE ROAD. Why not walk? Why a lawnmower?

Top that.

Yeah, could be it was a hint. Or maybe he just wanted to give you a story to tell.

Nope. We have a new John Deere. It's HIS.

Sigh. I'm sure there is some deep symbolic message he's trying to communicate, but it may be beyond mortal ken.

My mother in law lives a 5 minutes walk away. I get the lucky drop ins quite often! I tried switching the numbers on our house with the one across the street, but she was too clever and didn't fall for it. I guess it's lucky for me she drops by like that since I get all those free lessons on what I could do better for everything! I get advices on cleaning the floor, sewing something, how to know about tea cups and where the labels lead me, about dog breeding, how to bake my bread differently, why I should buy different curtains than the ones we have, how to use our stove differently, why I'm not cleaning the sink right, what our cats really thinks, why I shouldn't like poetry so much, but prefer painting instead, the right way to raise children, which polish I should use on the kitchen table, and many more!

So, if I seem to know everything, it is thanks to my mother in law telling me everything. Good thing she doesn't drive a lawnmower, though.

Not a "fail" if he made it to your house.
What's worse, him taking a ride like that or you not understanding what the term "fail" means.

I ride my lawnmower to my grandmother's house all the time (only because it's 1/4 mile away, I don't have a truck and I mow her grass with it when I get there) but just saying....

And by my estimate riding a lawnmower because you don't have a car is truly fail sauce.

How does this elusive "fail sauce" taste?

I have to agree that if the intended task was completed as planned it really can't be thought of as a fail.
Ill advised perhaps.
Wasteful of time, fuel and resources maybe.
But not a genuine fail in the truest sense.

Now if the rear wheels suddenly fell off of the mower halfway down the street...

The ex taught for a while at a children's home (like an orphanage, but also doubled as a school for young convicts-in-training). One of the kids there had earned his admission by stealing a riding lawnmower and then using it as his getaway vehicle. A police officer engaged in a low speed pursuit and caught him -- the officer was on foot.
