Can I *make* a store item?

Post by deer of the dawn »

Just wondered. Thinking specifically of the rather shabby and shopworn $2 shop items. Where are the Mulder and Scully buttons????

I could help with some, too! I did one for people who hate J, but then never asked about putting it in.

You can make 'em. Adding 'em is problamatic.

Somewhere in here there is a thread that provides a font and other specifics.

Here it is. Graphics for new items etc

Well, I just used an existing one for the format. Just opened it in photoshop, copied the formatting and made new layers. I did this one a while back because I really can't stand J and there ought to be a society against him! The Anti-J Association!

Sheesh, what have you got against Jay?

:LOLS:

Anyway, yeah, like WF said, it's the actual adding them that's the problem. In fact, only Vain or Jay (kevinswatch) can do it.

Maybe I should chat to Vain about that...

Hey Av, what's keeping you (an administrator) from having at it? Just curious.

He's got such horrible dialogue! It's like a kid from a bad sitcom. I don't dislike J so much as I find his portrayal to be completely irritating. I just don't believe that character- he breaks the spell of the book.

Psst, Ananda -- the founder of this discussion board is named Jay (his Watch name is kevinswatch). Av was making a joke. ;)

As far as Watchers making items, I'm pretty sure wayfriend made the item for Linden's Army, and Xar made the items for the Pantheon game. I made all of the items in the store for the Vampire the Requiem and Aesir games.

I'm uncertain of any other Watcher-made items outside of ones created by admins. And the delay in getting items made uploaded, once approved, is frustrating, to say the least.

But, it can be done.

One of our newer posters that's been real active has made some (Not sure if they've been uploaded yet). I believe it was Eff, there's a thread or two around.

Hahaha, yeah. I have no idea what J you're talking about.

As far as I can tell, adding items requires FTP access to the server, which I've never bothered soliciting. But given both Jay and Vain's recent absences, maybe I'll chase Vain about it. (They're both pretty busy in RL, the useless buggers, but I'm in touch with Vain every now and then.) (Usually when I break something. ;) )

I was going to make the same joke. And I'm also clueless as to who J is. Better not be Men in Black! Heh

Considering the Horse, and all the Hate/Love/holding Judgement clubs, I'm assuming J = Jeremiah

Your guess was my first thought too, sindatur, but Ananda seems to point the other way when she says "He's got such horrible dialogue! It's like a kid from a bad sitcom."
Spoiler
Jeremiah's lines so far have been mostly croyel ventriloquism, other than what he says in the final paragraphs of Great Need. While some may quibble that those few words he speaks on his own don't sound authentic to someone of his age, the are more like something from the end of a typical Hallmark movie than a bad sitcom.

Personally, I was too thrilled with all that had happed leading to that moment to get too nitpicky about what the dialog did to my diabetes. Besides, as I have said so many times, I trust SRD. In two years and one week, we will surely see where he is going with Jeremiah.
