Great day! One good thing after another. I received the Police report for my auto accident!!

And I looked at it and I think I know WHY it took so long! (about 1.5 months)
I thiiiink that someone was trying to wait until the other guy's insurance resolved that yes, they should indeed count him as having coverage.

And really, I'm okay with that!

[Edit:too much information the first time]

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

Yes, yes it does. And having to wait makes it even worse.

I've already got 3 sets of fingers crossed for Luci on another thread, so I'll add another 3 sets here. :cross: :cross: :cross:

I'm apparently mutating at a vastly accelerated rate here, but it'll be worth it if everything turns out okay.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

Who's that Hindu entity with the zillion arms...? ;)

I took yesterday off because I needed a blood test for a new medication my dr. put me on, and, well, I didn't want to bother going into work afterward. So I got to the doc's office yesterday morning and waited forever to be called in, only to find out that my doc (really a physician's assistant) hadn't put in an order for blood work for me before she left on maternity leave. So I blew a day of leave for nothing.

But things got better. Magickmaker invited me along with her on a thrift store tour -- she's stocking up on sweaters to send to these folks to have them make her a coat -- and then she treated me to dinner.

Today we're supposed to be cleaning the house to make way for the tree. So far, I'm here on the Watch and she just got up.

Feeling frustrated and stupid over a fragload of things. Everything sits in the mud without getting anywhere.

Doesn't help that dear ol' confidence's been hiding beneath the kitchen sink for a while now. Or maybe it just likes the company of mousetraps.

Hoped to see some sun today, but thanks to a bout of headache missed it. There's no much enjoying that on regular workdays, what with the watery daylight lasting for less than 6 hours. Heavy rains tomorrow; no inspiration to go out to soak myself.

Off to a second round of sauna. Good vibes to everyone else.

I'm pretty sure I would shrivel up and die with that amount of light. (Currently getting over twice your daily amount and, like a little kid, still complain when it gets dark! ) I don't know how you poor guys do it. Do you ever use those light therapy box things? I used to live in Melbourne, where it's much mirkier and thought about trying them during winter, but then I thought about all the vineyards who would go out of business through no fault of their own.

I hope you find your confidence soon Zorm and I hope it's not wrapped around a half-dead mouse.

Coincidently, I'm off for a spa/sauna myself right now. The gardening/housework combo has done a right number on my lumbar spine!

Just finished up the base for a batch of dark chocolate ice cream and also a batch of salted caramel ice cream. Tomorrow it's brunch with Julie, then laundry, then dinner at Niall and Frances place and that entails a puppy play date for Moose and Amelia. That's what the ice cream is for. Niall is making tri-tip, taters and salad. Should be tons of fun.

Umm...I don't know. Make metal out of it?
(Now, after posting these, I'm quite sure you and Ananda will troll the Mallory's with fake quotes about me knitting fuzzy pink scarves. :P)

You can get an idea of the sun's position from this (taken a teensy while back when we managed to come upon the first sunny Saturday in minor eons). Behold the long, rippling, dramatic shadows at 12:40.

I've taken vitamin D supplements for a couple of weeks, but can't feel much difference. I've considered once or twice getting some bright light gimmick, but don't know how much that would contribute to the electricity bill again.

It really is excellent for muscle aches, isn't it. =D I put a fire in the kiuas twice or thrice a week, although I'm annoyed at the lack of snow. It's important to experience it properly (although the artist doesn't seem to know that it's unhygienic and impolite to wear stuff in the sauna...). XDD

Thanks for the well-wishes.

8O Zorm, your picture looks like it's 3:00pm DC time, with sunset at 5:00pm... 8O OTOH, I suppose you get really long summer days....

The house got cleaned yesterday, eventually. And the yarn store had some yarn that's a pretty close color match to my new hat, so I will have matching gloves in a few weeks! Yay! 8) The next project after that might be a knitted cozy for the Nook Tablet that Magickmaker talked me into buying. I got all of my e-books moved from the Sony Reader to the Nook last night, with only a little bit of finagling.

Supposed to go see "The Muppet Movie" later today...

Sheesh, we get around 14 hours in summer, and 11 in winter.

Last week of work. May it pass quickly and painlessly. :D

Well, we're on level with Greenland...

I believe I complain more about the overabundance of light during the summer than the winter dark. June-August it interferes with normal sleep, but on the other hand one can go out for a stroll still around 23:00 without needing a flashlight.

Sunshine we got! It's dry season now and the Harmattan has not yet blown in from the Sahara to obscure the sky with a silver shroud, so we got eleven hours of blue skies every day. (13 in Summer.)

I feel really good today. My poor hubby, on the other hand, is stressed to the max. :(

May your hubby's stress ease, DotD. :)

We did see "The Muppet Movie" last night. It was cheesy and goofy, and knew itself to be cheesy and goofy. I grinned like an idiot through the whole thing. :)

My husband got a jobb offer from one of his clients. It's a lot more money and a company car, but he loves his current jobb too and the pay is not low by any means. He's being wined and dined twice this week to try to sway him either way. He's a bit stressed to have to make the decision, I think. He is the draw for many of the clients at his current work and leaving would mean the small business he works at now losing some significant accounts.

And it did snow today and I missed it! I need to look out the window more! It all melted by the time I went outside and it is just rain now.

Thanks everyone for words of encouragement. It might just be a flareup of GERD, so I'm resting a bit easier until my appointment in another week.
