Wooohoo!! I feel great because my students who tested for first grade did really well. A few I was concerned about did better than I expected.

This sounds fun... what if I don't have a kindle? It's Artie's day of reckoning. A news assignment sends him to his family's old farmstead and a long-delayed meeting with his cousin Lulie. Good thing the dragonflies approve.
Other than Amazon's solution: "Don't have a Kindle? Get your Kindle here."

as though a "like" outside of fb counts!
hi, lorin!
To Shuram, ali, and Sarge (for when he gets back) - thanks for your thoughts and concerns.
I apparently don't know how to respond to sympathy, or something... felt awkward about making this post.
(wanted to say more, but.. that can wait.)
Orlion- yes, actually, I am in fact American and living in the U.S. ...so I, too, am geographically-challenged.
In fact, failed to realize that I didn't actually know which flag was SA's until like, yesterday.
And deer- yay, that is exciting!

They did the exact same bloody thing to me. I was trying to take a 'vacation' day this week because they've been promising me for over a year that I could use my vacation time and it never works out. But I got the day approved, and they scheduled me to work late every other day to make up for it. The worst of it is that I know they meant well, and even said that it was so I could save my vacation time for if I get my hours cut. I just wanted a little break, but I couldn't say anything because saying that I wanted less hours would Look Really Bad. So the day I'd asked for ended up not working out at the last minute because they threw a ton of work onto what's usually a maintenance day for me, and they offered me a different day off in exchange, but at that point I said 'Forget it, just give me back my regular schedule.' And that sucks because this month has been hell and having an extra day off was the only thing I had to look forward to.Cameraman Jenn wrote:
I did have a moment of frustration though. I had specifically asked for time off on Wednesday for my dentist appointment. I intended to use sick time and told Kin about it when I asked for the time in the first place since the only time we can use that without penalty is for appointments made in advance or emergency hospital stays. I come in today and find that my schedule has been changed and they put me on Saturday so I could "get all my hours." I was like, hey, I have 72 hours of sick pay saved up and I get to use it for appointments and such so I wanted to have a four day work week and use my damn sick time when I can take it without penalty otherwise it's useless to me. I even said I was willing to take a different day as long as I got to use my sick time. They ended up giving me Saturday off after all. I hope they realize that I'll probably need two or three more visits over the next few weeks to get my teeth fixed and I sure as heck plan to use that extra time for those too. GRRR....

It'll give me something to read on my way to Chicago next week.
And for the record, I don't have a Kindle either. I have the Kindle app on my Macbook Pro and on my iPad.

I'd love to do a conference, but I think it costs extra. If I'm wrong, I'd love to do it. But we do have a camera so we can do sound and video.
