Speaking of MIA...

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

Ali, good to hear FB attests to his presence!

Cambo and I chat on Facebook via messenger. He moved and has been using library access which blocks the Watch for some reason. He said access at his new digs should be up and running soon, but is uncertain how access to the Watch will be.
He definitely wants to get his dissection up as soon as he can return though, from what I understand.

Blast from the past?
Hello Kevin's Watch. Been a long, long time.
@Fire Daughter I know it's very late for condolences, but I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a gentle, beautiful lady and I had a great deal of respect and affection for her. I know she meant a lot to Fist and many others as well - sorry for your loss guys.

Hey, welcome back.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Hey everybody! It's good to be back. I've been jonesing for a re-read lately...if I ever have time to start it I may be here more frequently. Especially since I still haven't read the last Chronicles.
Good lord, it's been 3 1/2 years since I've been here. (For real????) I'm so glad to see you guys are still here, and my account hasn't been deleted - thanks Jay!
I've been busy with all kinds of stuff. I've personally done a lot of growing in all kinds of ways, my kids are ginormous (16 and 10!!), and Colin is doing great. All in all things have been going very well, except that I have very little time for foruming anymore - not even in my own.
So....
Since I was here last I've:
I guess that's all the major stuff. Everyone's happy and healthy. The theater I was involved with closed down in December 2008 due to lack of funds, but they've moved on to some small independent film and web series projects that I've been marginally involved with. They wrapped a short film that was set in my house a couple of weeks ago - my whole family is in it at different points.
Uh...I'm going to Wonder Con next weekend to meet some of the people I've been working with and see the Fringe panel, and we're currently fostering a 6 week old orphan squirrel - cutest thing EVER.
I know you guys were just dying to know all that.
I've really missed this place...

So....
Since I was here last I've:
- Taken over management of the local branch of a charity event called Can't Stop the Serenity. It's an annual screening of the movie Serenity, along with Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, benefiting an organization called Equality Now - they advocate women's human rights all over the world. It's a fantastic cause that means a lot to me. And the movie ain't bad either.
Become extremely active in the Fringe (TV show) fandom. After losing Firefly (yeah it still hurts), and then TSCC and Dollhouse in such rapid succession, I just couldn't handle losing another show I loved without trying to do something about it, so I started looking for ways to help. It was a gradual evolution, but I'm now running a website(!) that's the hub for this massive online fan promotional effort. We're way past pleading letters and online petitions - what we're doing is brand new, very exciting, possibly actually effective, and very time consuming. (I know it sounds ineffectual and lame, but it really seems to be making a difference - we're actually getting some mainstream media coverage!) And I love it, so it's worth it.
Started home schooling my kids. We've been doing it for a year-and-a-half and it's amazing. It's an incredibly rewarding experience!!
Lost a bunch of weight (55 lbs), gotten into really great shape, and then suffered a knee injury that set me back for a long time. I haven't gained the weight back but I'm no longer in shape - I just started working out again regularly, but I'm annoyed at feeling like I'm starting over.
Painted and re-floored my entire house.
Started writing again, for the first time since high school. It's all been Fringe stuff, but I forgot how much I love it, and some of what I've written has been pretty high profile in my tiny niche market.
Learned some funny (scary?) things about people. It turns out that all it takes to be a leader is stepping forward. It's kinda shocking how willing people are to follow the leader - even if that "leader" is me.

Birdy, the "Apoligies to Avatar" thread up in The Summonsing has turned into a place for squee-worthy baby animal pictures. It would be the perfect place for pictures of your baby squirrel. <nod nod>
