Do we need more rp activity on the Watch in general, not only in GT?

Yes, and I'm going to be in the first rows!

/roleplay

There you go, Effaeldm. :P. Roleplay randomly at its finest.
If someone puts on a corset, a garter belt etc. - that may be the role-play you mean. If that someone claims he/she is an alien prince and starts running after people with a pick axe - that's the one I mean
...
As for the unsharp mask, it really works better for most normal situations, the gaussian blur provides blurry and inaccurate results, but have you tried it after a relief used nearly to its fullest, just so that the image doesn't get barely recognizable? Maybe I didn't try playing with the settings enough, but I don't see it giving a result mentionable enough. It's slight and accurate, the blur helps make a complete disaster a bit smoother looking. To a questionable extent, of course. They're both better for their own uses.

A selective blur is sometimes a better way, though its results sometimes tend to look strange and funny)

Glad to see you here) and thank you. By the way, did you mention you have 555 posts? Though I guess you value what is in the posts much more than their quantity :)

That looks interesting, but isn't what I mean, it looks like a tabletop role-play game, while I mean deciding on a fictional character, sticking to his character and behavior (though there can be some allowances, especially for the purpose of humor)) and interacting with the Watchers this way. Similarly to what people do in GT, though in such a way so that it fits with the Watch well and may be used anywhere.

Well, you can stay yourself, of course, everyone's own choice) And perhaps implement parts and bits of role-play right like this, like I do and Menolly did, and perhaps does a little, at least I've seen some in the Hopeful Riders thread)

I can, though, pick a hero or a villain, or something in between to have some talk on that :)

Sorry, Effy, I saw what you referred to, but still didn't know what you were talking about. You can explain if you want!

You use a layer mask in the process... but that was just a terrible picture. My husband is the artist. He taught me the tricks, but I can't create anything original, lacking all talent there. I can just manipulate existing images.

I thought you likely just knew - I meant Frank-N-Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Haven't you even heard of it? It was even suggest to watch on an Elohimfest, don't know how it turned out though kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18441&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Maybe you use a layer mask) I don't if I can avoid it, or anything that involves manual work on the image

Though got to admit, it looks not too good in some cases) I usually use that algorithm on old cartoons to make myself more viewable wallpapers.

As for originality, it's often a matter of trying. Just go and draw from scratch)

You mention the Hopeful Riders thread. There is also the Grand Reopening thread, but definitely Plains of Ra is a Watcher in an alter ego.

Also check out Hig, Mr FixIt, NOWgirl, Taiga Tzu and a slew of other alts. All fictional users who pretty much stay in character throughout their posts.

I suspect new user The Perfect One may be such as well...

Makes me wonder how many alien princes that wear corsets and garter belts and use pick axes as a weapon you know)

I meant both, I count them as one) And I know there is, though mostly was, a lot more, it's one of the reasons I started this thread. Thank you for the list, I'll try to check out their posts)

As for suspect - that sounds like an understatement - how much likely someone who wrote "So, how did it happen there are no more portrayals of such an awesome character as me?" in a thead with an LF depiction may be not a role-player?) Let alone the signature. I suggested using such above in this thread, and have one myself.

Actually, if you could visit the Mallory's after all, you could get a much better explanation, there's a certain game there) One Ananda and I have quotes of in our signatures. Though maybe it's a good idea to copy or link some of the posts there to the movie discussion sub-forum, it could be more fitting there.

Here's a perfect example.

I am currently the Mad Hatter. I ask a riddle, whoever gets it right first then becomes the Mad Hatter.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

Is the Mad Hatter game active again? I dislike it being in Mallory's, hence why I stopped playing. But, if it is being played elsewhere, I'll guess balon!, even without a riddle. ;)

Oh yeah, we're supposed to guess via PM to the Mad Hatter, right?

Hardly a chance. Role-playing mode off - no fire-lizards, role-playing mode on - none of your "perfect" hands allowed around

And the rank - of course, as if you could leave the "Servant of the Land" one for longer than the necessary 5 messages

Right, all the role-players should be remembered... and safely stored, especially me

:) But how didn't you think you can be a -player instead then?

And that's leaving out a lot of other meanings that have things to do with rock-n-roll, drugs and personal philosophy)

Depends on the individual idea of fun I guess. I'd rather see people guessing) as long as the role-players don't do anything that nobody on the forum should do.

Can't it be played here, in the Gen Disc, or anywhere? Role-players exist everywhere anyway) What is the riddle, may I ask?

Didn't write on this then, there appeared to be a drop in interest to this thread, so I returned now.

I'd like to address the difference, the one between having multiple accounts for a hoax, like in the situation lorin described, and for any other purpose, including role-play.

It appears to me a good parallel may be a mask, which is basically what a forum alt is. It may be worn by a bandit, but may also be a protection, a way to hide a face perceived as unattractive, or just to feel more secure, a part of a ritual (not necessarily serious, maybe like a Halloween preparation or on some eastern holidays - with dragons and the like), a way of creating a mysterious aura, just a game.

And sorry for not replying to the last message here, just not sure what to reply) So I just used the goodpost button on it, but it may go unmentioned, so I'll just say - thank you for posting and being a role-player))
