The Lightstone. It's David "Neverness" Zindell's fantasy trilogy. Rather dissapointing, unless you want to read the exact same story as RFHS all over again, except using horses instead of spaceships. Characters, names, and concepts are all duplicated rather obviously.

Yeah, I wasn't all that thrilled with The Lightstone either. The Neverness books were much better.

For exactly the same reason, I didn't finish Lightstone, despite the Neverness books being among my top 10 all time.

Requiem For Homo Sapiens. The Danlo trilogy that comes after Neverness. I just call them all the Neverness books

So everyone knew and no one warned me? :)

It's not so bad I can't finish it. I'm personally wondering if the two universes don't end up connected.

Saw that at the movies yesterday. Never read the book, but I can see why it appeals to kids of a certain age.

My daughter has the three books and told me I would enjoy the movie more if I read the books first. So I'm about halfway through the first book and although there is nothing highbrow about this series, its enjoyable.

Just finished The Healthy Dead. Just need to read Crack'd Pot Trial, and I'll be completely caught up on Malazan until around August.

Which reminds me, I think Orb Sceptre Throne is out in e-book in the US now. I should download it to the Nook...

Well, fine, I'll double-post, then. The Android's Dream by John Scalzi. First time I've read Scalzi, tho I remember Duchess likes him quite a bit. It's pretty good so far.

I enjoy Scalzi. Old Man's War and The Ghost Brigades are both good.

I enjoyed those also, especially Old Mans War. I believe there are two more in the series the third is The Last Colony which I own but have not read. I think there is a 4th called Zoe's Tale? Not sure about that.

Currently reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

The Android's Dream was entertaining. Not quite as wild as Terry Pratchett, but a lot of fun.

And B&N's saying mid-May for Orb Sceptre Throne for the Nook. Sigh. Yes, I know, I could order it from Amazon.uk and have it sooner than that....
