Well I don't know where they went, but I know who took them out, and didn't we have this conversation before somewhere? :?

Oh no, Sarge, no need to apologise. I'm in my "take things at face value and don't read between the lines" mode again. Let's face it, I can be a right dim-wit sometimes

i am a man - i wallow in my dimwittedness.

i need to get out of the house - i want this effin' walking boot off.

and i shouldn't listen to better writers than me, Kasey Chambers makes me realize how off my writing is. i try to write linear stuff - it just transforms somehow. i honestlt try to express feeling and emotions. just seems odd when i read it back.

i want pizza.

Any dimwittedness you can do I can do better (apologies to Annie get your Gun)

You are lucky you have a boot - all I had was a sandal thingy.

Listen to your heart, not to other writers.

I can take pizza now and again, but it always gives me indigestion!!

I'm in a much better mood today. Got some sleep last night, for one thing, so I'm not feeling so cranky. 8) The living room still looks funny -- all the furniture is crammed at one end, with a vast swath of vacant real estate (where Magickmaker's "bedroom" was) between there and the dining room. Maybe I'll start setting that to rights tonight. I've put off moving the furniture around because I want to give the place a good vacuuming. I guess I'll work on that tonight, too.

One thing I need to do is a quick fix on the mattress support for the daybed. It's not a link spring -- it's a rectangular frame with a bar running down the center the long way, with short bars bridging the gaps between the outer frame and the center bar. The weld on one of the short bars failed at some point, and so Magickmaker just pulled it off and threw the bar away. So I need to get something to bridge that gap, which is about a foot wide. I'm thinking I could lash it with some climbing rope, but that means a trip to REI to get the rope, and I haven't had the time to go since she moved out. I also need to move the trundle mattress up onto the daybed, since she took the daybed mattress with her ('til she can buy a bed of her own), but I don't want to do that until I've "fixed" the platform. Sigh. Things will simply have to continue to be in an uproar for another few days....

Getting it off a big reel? You might want to get static or semi-static rope for this...dynamic rope will stretch.

sorry for your loss, sarge. Losing a good co-worker and friend can be devastating.

I have been up since 3am. Yuck. Ouch. Blech. But the good thing is the birds are chirping at the dawn. I love that sound.
The loudest truth I ever heard was the softest sound.

Thanks, Av! Yes, I figured I would ask the nice man to cut me a hunk of the proper stuff off the big reel. But then I found a length of dowel rod that fit nicely into the gap, so I've duct-taped that sucker in place. I'm sure it will break. WF also pm'd me to suggest metal strapping, which might be the best option. I've got to run some errands Saturday anyhow, so I think I'll stop at the hardware store, too.

Good sleeping weather last night-- a long, gentle rain. That murmuring sound really helps, and once the rains set in, bomb and riot season is usually over until December.

But, that dang cat has been missing for a couple of days now. He was around that morning I kicked him out, but that evening he made himself scarce, knowing we would shut him in the house for the night I guess. Come back, Sam!! :(

That certainly beats my 90 minutes of Word Basics pain. :( Hope you can make the retreat this year.

Thanks everyone for the kind words regarding my mom.

A rainy day today. I just had a ham sandwich and some nacho chips for dinner and I think now I'm going to make some tea and recline in the chair for a while tonight.
