It's only a little mess, MsMary -- and if I put the TV in front of it, I can't see it at all.

Today I had a financial advisor over to talk about mortgages. Nothing special, told me a lot of what I've heard before, but he's going to send over information about what costs would be involved in getting one.
I opened this thread on the first page by mistake, and was puzzled for a while over what it was back in December 2010 that I was anticipating in ten minutes time. Then I realised by the date that it must have been the launch day for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

Good luck Murrin. It's always going to be important with taking any financial advice to sepparate out what is good for you from what is good for the guy giving the advice - this may sound cynical but we live in the real world. One bennefit uf the dull old repayment mortgage that I found was that as the years went by (and they do quickly) what seemed like big chunks of monthly payment initially, rapidly fell as a proportion of my income, untill at the end I barely noticed them. I was never chewing my fingers over failures in the markets to perform to expectations as were some of my friends who had endowment mortgages but did have to dake the odd 'hit' if the rate went up (didn't happen often and never to a problematic degree.) Conversely I was in pocket a bit if it fell. All in all it served me well and I always knew that at on the final day it would be paid in full. With the markets as they are at present this may be a big plus to think about.

It's as if I'm sitting in the Marie Celeste - everything is just how I left if when I took to my bed last Thursday evening.
Please excuse any syntax errors by the way, my glasses don't appear to be working very well today.
Thursday night/Friday - complete hot blur; my head was like one of those tickertape machines - full of jumbled stuff - couldn't stop it - then it dawned on me that I was dehydrated as I had drunk very little since I had gone to bed the previous evening. So I drank lots of water on Saturday (C was in and out with the bookstall, then going to the AGM (he's Hon. Treasurer), etc. and I had to fend for myself), and of course perspired liberally most of the day. [I must say here a very big Thank You to SRD for perfectly describing the symptoms in ROTE so enabling me to identify what was wrong!]
Think I had some scrambled eggs Sunday, first food since Thursday - ah, no, I did had a "Cup-a Soup" Friday, I think , but it was swiftly rejected.
By now I had no neck whatsoever. Whatever the glands are in your neck, they were huge, and my throat absolutely raw. Head still woozy, but by Monday morning the head was better and I got up, did some washing, put it on the line, and was so exhausted that I did nothing else all day.
Did I forget to mention that I tried to start reading Mordant's Need on Friday? Couldn't do it, but gradually the two books became my excuse not to do much else than read (hence the eyes unable to focus on this screen very well at the moment). I finished them about an hour ago. Perhaps more about that elsewhere.
Today my neck glands are still slightly swollen, one side more than the other, and my throat still sore. I shall have to to to the doctor after all as this isn't clearing up as quickly as I would like. Have decided to "rest" for the next couple of weeks, not get straight back into the melee.
Oh, and I seem to have gone off cigarettes. They were obvioulsy making my symptoms worse. haven't had one since yesterday morning.

I just emailed my boss who isn't working today my letter of resignation. My last day here is the 4th of July. Yippee Yow! I start the new job on the 9th of July. It physically is closer but may take longer to get there as I will be working in the Federal Center for The Man. I can't speak about it any further...
I've been hoping to get out of this hellhole I've been working at for some time. Looks like I finally managed it. I just hope the new job is a positive step. I will be making $5k more a year, and it sounds like it might be a bit less taxing, and the benefits look like they might just be better. We'll see. It's been an uphill road after I got the acceptance letter.
Anyway, yay!
However, what this means to my post count is anybody's guess, as I mainly post from work.

Congrats, Cag! That's great news!
Iolanthe: Glad you're back among the living.
(My body would've rejected Cup-a-Soup, too, just on general principles.
)
As for me...it's 97 degrees here *again* today, bleah. But I got Shara_Lunison to submit her resume for a job at my firm -- fingers crossed that she gets it, because it would mean having both/all my kids close by. And I am an intarwebz star, with guest blog posts at two different places today.
How to write newspaper copy that looks like the real thing (which should also go in the writer's forum, I guess):
www.indiesunlimited.com/2012/06/21/gett ... on-part-1/
And my home office (which could also go in the "Show us where you stand...or sit" thread):

Hassles at work today.
But the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship, so I'm happy.

Congrats on the job, Cag!
As for my medical stuff earlier this week (last week?), it's pretty routine. I'm on a medication that causes severe birth defects and can mess with the liver. So every month I have to go in, get blood drawn, and take a pregnancy test. No biggie.
Sending good juju out to those who need it!

How is it I feel so stressed this early in the day? ARGH!

There's lots of good, happy positive stuff goin' on and goin' forward, but still...
(tempted to post a list of yesterday's "small" - but awesome - accomplishments.)

ali- I think I like your sense of aesthetics and like what you've done w/ that room!
