Which Reed Stephens story is the one that ...

I've been unable to access anything to read for years, and am trying to remember what I HAVE read.

The first Reed Stephens book I read was the martial arts tourney one. Then I found another and read it, but can now remember precious little of it.

All I do remember was Brew being in a town trying to solve/sort something, and it pretty much climaxed in a fight/injuring/possible killing at a house that I think he was trying to keep secure from incursion. I have a feeling there was a stabbing and the story basically finished with Brew doing a runner. Could be wrong on many counts, but there was a fight at a house (possibly outside it - carport, patio, entrance?) and someone did get hurt.

I read a few of the threads here but couldn't get to the bottom of it.

In order of publishing:
The Man Who Killed His Brother is the one where Brew is trying to find his niece.
The Man Who Risked His Partner is the one where Brew and Ginny are protecting a Bank Executive.
The Man Who Tried to Get Away is the one where Brew goes to a mystery camp.
The Man Who Fought Alone is the one with the martial arts academy.

I think the one you are thinking of is the second one.

No I'm sure I have it right, I duck out of real life once a day to post here, but each time, in KW, it seems months have passed

I always found it kind of funny that Mick would get shot in one of the books (The Man Who Risked His Partner from 1984) and would keep that wound until at least after the end of "The Man Who Fought Alone" from 1991.

Then again I have never quite gotten around the fact that so little time passes in some SRD books. The Gap is a good example.

There are a few places where time passes without anything much happening in both. There are one or more long stays in hospital in the Reed Stephens books, and there is a time in Forbidden Knowledge where the Captains Fancy is just travelling slowly while a lot of stuff happens onboard. But once they come to Thanatos Minor things happen very quickly. A lot quicker than I would expect for such large books at least.
