I keep being slightly surprised to see my own avatar. Guess that's what comes of using two very similar avatars for years.

It took me a while to get used to having an avatar again.

I like your new one.

Haven't been on the Watch much lately. School has me so busy. My husband was away all week and my way so he wasn't around to keep me from workaholizing. :) Still, I have sooooo much work to do. Teaching 4 new courses, one of which needs to be completely re-written as I go. I do love this kind of challenge, though.

A bomb went off last night around 11. Found out it was a police station in a part of town called Rikkos, a few miles away. Supposedly. You never know until... well sometimes you just never do know!! There is very little real news on the media here. A police helicopter crashed and burned, killing all inside, a few months ago, and I found out by word of mouth. About a week later, there was a very brief mention on the radio.

The end of Ramadan is always a dangerous time. B0k0 H@r@m is making threats, the police have forbidden Musl1ms from using a field they like to pray in (in a "Christian" part of town) which has caused riots in the past. Interesting times.

I am in Krakow. Got here and discovered that I am booked into the wrong hotel (the same company has a few in the area) so I'm split off fron the rest of the group, but it's not toobad. Probably won't be spending much time in the hotel, where the internet is. It's very late and this is the first chance I've had to get online.

Hope you heal quickly, Sarge. |G

Back from the ancestral manse. We got a number of tasks accomplished but barely scratched the surface of what needs to be done. We also managed to keep from killing my brother, but it was a near thing.

Glad to see you home Sarge. Now, rest, rest, rest! :)

That device is essential, especially if you have congestion. You do not want pneumonia to settle in. breathe, breathe, breathe.

We also managed to keep from killing my brother, but it was a near thing.

Ya' gotta push through the pain. You are high risk because of your 'roundness' and have to do two things, use your lungs and your feet. I know because I am 'round' too and had to do that after my last gazzilion operations. You need to move your legs to avoid blood clots and use your lungs to avoid pneumonia. The pillows are good. Ask Julie to cup your back to help loosen the phlegm. And walk, walk, walk. Did the hospital give you surgical stockings?

excellent idea!!! leave the credit cards at home. When I am in pain I spend money 'cause it is the only thing that doesn't hurt.:P (at least until you get the bill)

I feel your pain, Iolanthe. I've got a blog post to write today, and I ought to spend some time straightening the house and getting ready for going back to work tomorrow.

My brother is suggesting that I take over the house. As in: quit my job and find a comparable one in Chicago (2-hour commute, one-way). My initial reaction was, "Are you mad??" I would spend a chunk of the rent savings on commuting costs, to say nothing of the time I'd waste. Plus the house has some issues. And I'm unclear whether the house would then constitute my share of the estate, with him pocketing all the cash, and leaving me house-poor.

If I were in a position to quit my job and write full-time, I would be more inclined to accept. But I'm not making that kind of money yet.
