My husband is being laid off again. This is the third time in the three jobs he's had since we've been married.
No severance.

Oh no, Jaz. I'm sorry.

When I received my 4th pink slip, and realized I was no longer stunned by the need to gear up for the whole "file for unemployment/polish up the resume/contact people for job leads" exercise -- that was when I decided I needed to change fields. But that was after 20 years in broadcasting. I dunno what to suggest for someone who's only starting out.

Sorry to hear that JazFusion, getting laid off always sucks, especially without Severance Pay.
I'll be praying for you and your husband
I narrowly avoided a Layoff The Christmas before last when my job got transferred out of state again, but they decided I knew too much, and they didn't know enough so temporarily rescinded it, and before I got my one month notice again, a more stable local position came up that I transferred to. I have been leaving my Vacation hours topped out at 4 weeks, as a sort of Back Up Severance package (This was especially important when I first got hired back from the Jan 2008 layoff, since I had no Severance time built up, but, fortunately now, I've been back almost 4 years, so, there's a little time built back up)

It's about learning to dance in the rain
Where are we going...and... WHY are we in a handbasket?
