Thanks, Jenn. Compassion doesn't change circumstances but it sure makes them easier to bear.

Met a cute puppy today. I'd like to bring him home this weekend and call him Bilbo, but I know there will be much rolling of eyes in my house. :)

Back from gallivanting the globe. Spent some quality time tonight, boring the kids with my pictures. I took not quite 600, which isn't a whole lot for two weeks -- I think Grace took more than that at the last E-fest barbecue! ).

I went right back to work today, after having landed at about 7:30pm yesterday. Should have taken today off, too. Ah, well.

Feeling annoyed and discouraged by a co-worker's complaints (which I hear from through others) about having my students occasionally, as in once a week or less, having my kids sing ONE song. Funsucker.

Really?? Anywhere near Austin? I'm searching for the grave of a university professor who died in 1963. Last sighted on the 1940 US census in Austin.

DotD, what's wrong with having kids sing in class? What a maroon.

Sarge, one of the coolest things I did on vacation was to tour a cemetery in Prague where a bunch of famous people are buried. I got a picture of Antonin Dvorak's crypt -- I'll have to post it eventually. Even the monuments to people I've never heard of were amazing.

Here, it's jet lag, day 2. :Z: I thought I'd be able to power through all my vacation backlogged work today, but completing at least one expense voucher will have to wait 'til I get the room receipt from the hotel. Bah.

Sarge, thanks for offering Julie's services :D I'll message you on FB if I can find out where he is. It's late now, I've been working all evening, and I will drop off in a minute if I don't go to bed. Also its taking ages to open up different forums on the site right now - that time of night I suppose.

I just now thought to check my Gmail account. Turns out the World Fantasy Convention folks sent e-mails at the end of last week, asking about preferences for participating in panel discussions and/or a reading. Figures they'd send it while I was on vacation.... Here's hoping they haven't booked everything yet.

:) Io, 6:30 is sleeping in, for me.

Nice, quiet Saturday, although it began with the neighbors screaming and beating on each other... gehh. The rest of the day was quiet, I did a lot of reading.

It's reverse psychology, he wants you to have the kids sing daily

If I remember what lorin told me correctly, Ms. Grace took about twice that number of frames at the Elohimfest barbecue. My FB profile pic is one I believe she took. Not only a good photographer, but a sweet kid...quite the opposite of what Menolly had going on the grill.

(For those who were not there, two points: 1. Menolly was grilling brats. 2. Why in Mhoram's name were you not there??????????)

Kudos to danlo and Lady Tam as both parents and hosts.

SD, I agree with both your posts -- and with the kudos as well! :)

So here's a bit of what I did on my shoulder-season vacation, with some pictures:
