Is the insurance payment wrapped into your mortgage payment, Murrin? Mortgage companies will do that here in the states for some types of loans.

No. Generally costs a fortune if you buy your lender's recommended insurance.aliantha wrote:Is the insurance payment wrapped into your mortgage payment, Murrin? Mortgage companies will do that here in the states for some types of loans.
Got confirmation now, but can't access policy details on the website (buttons are greyed out).

Well, of course!! What would you do without them, and aren't their issues just mesmerizing!!Avatar wrote: Of course every client wants their stuff yesterday, because we all know they're the only client we have, and we just sit around twiddling our thumbs until they need us...

Feeling like Christmas break is just around the corner and the semester is starting to wind down.

That was the part that bothered me the most, really-- that he refused to take any responsibility for his attitude or his actions. People like that are very, very difficult to deal with on any level. He "deserved" an A, in his mind, and couldn't get past that.Effy wrote:The point I was trying to make - not sure if you'll find it good to tell that kid something like this, the situation is yours and you know better, just a suggestion from me - I think that to get what you really deserved and deserve what you get and take it gracefully is what any achievement is about, be it a win, a loss or a second place. Is it any good to get what you wanted and be remembered as a whiner who can't accept own achievements? It takes a lot to take a loss well, there are not many things as important and valuable as being able to do that.
Oh well. I can't fix a lot of things, and that's one of them.

Actually, there are a few approaches that might work, including proving beyond reasonable doubt that this was deserved - for example, proposing a line of questions or a task on the subject - of such a kind that the inadequacy will be obvious, comparing to what the other students have done, preferably saying he could do better. If he's in any slight acceptance that he might be wrong, then the reasoning about how much better doing it the right way is, by deserving it.

I have a pretty reliable feeling that I'll be getting some bad news tomorrow. My Grandmother has been in and out of the hospital and took a bad turn for the worse over the past few days to the point that my mother flew back out to Florida this morning after only having been back in Oregon for about a week from her last visit. Anyway, we were crazy with black friday crap at work and I just took my phone out of my purse at 11 and realized I had a bunch of missed calls. One was my sister saying, "Hey, Jenn, it's me, call me if you get this before 10 your time otherwise I'll call you in the morning tomorrow. We love you. Talk to you soon."
Based on the sound of her voice and the fact that she was obviously trying not to upset me by attempting to sound somewhat nonchalant in the message leads me to believe it's probably reached a stage of vegetativeness or she's actually passed on. They haven't been able to pinpoint for sure what is going on with my Gran, she just seems to be physically shutting down. Anyway, I'll let you guys know what's up after I talk to my sis tomorrow.

So just after I posted that last I realized that it wasn't too late to call my stepfather in Oregon so it's confirmed. My grandmother passed away this afternoon. I feel better knowing and I basically said, "Hey Steve, got a forced nonchalant message from Ellen so I'm pretty sure I know what you have to tell me but I'll feel better knowing so just lay it on me. He was being very extra gentle at first but we ended up having a really nice conversation and for the moment I am very much at peace with it. I'll probably have a good cry tomorrow and that will be a good thing.

I am thankful for her life. She taught me to sew and cook and lots of great crafting things. She was smart and funny and loved her husband, my grandfather for over forty years of marriage in equal partnership of strength and support. When he died of cancer she was able to bounce back and find love again late in life with my stepgrandfather Kenn. She had a long full life with many great friends and I think she was just ready to let go. And I have her eyes. I've always been able to look in the mirror and see her by just looking at my eyes and my sister's youngest has them too.

Jenn, I am very sorry to hear that you've lost your grandmother. And I'm so glad that you had such a good and long relationship with her. You were lucky. I lost one set of grandparents when I was 11, and the other set when I was 18/19, mainly due to two world wars causing long generation gaps. How I wish I had been old enough to ask them about their lives and learn from them.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Io, Ali, yes, it's the best way to go. No lingering illness, no drama. Makes me think of a random song lyric, Lay your weary head to rest don't you cry no more. My great grandfather died in his sleep, just went to bed and didn't wake up at the rich old age of 91. Its interesting, I thought I would be more sad but I'm not so much so. I'm more worried about my mom than anything else. Yes, Lynne, I know, worried about my mom... weird huh?

I'm with null. Except he probably doesn't have what I have (malaria). Hoping to feel well enough to teach tomorrow.
