no worries. The post was a little too manic depressive and I thought the better of it. Thanks for the concern.

I realized lately that I am so done with the Christmas crazy train. It is just so not about stuff. Pretty much all my family has converted to giving charitable gifts in people's names (i.e. to World Vision, etc) and it is such a relief. I posted here before about how much it meant to us to provide a Christmas dinner for an orphanage for the boys who have no place to go for Christmas (or Sallah; some of the boys are Muslims but hey, they love food too). I hate to keep talking about it because I'm not looking for credit for it; but rather I want to encourage others to get off the crazy train and do something for someone ELSE (that will make you feel AWESOME).

Not that I don't want anything for Christmas. Some new books would be fantastic. :) But my focus is elsewhere and it just takes all the stress off. Hallelujah!!

Had a lovely day today. Walked to the local shops with my daughter and bought a few desperately needed items (slippers, handbag and pumps to wear at our party next month). Received a Christmas kiss from Mr Robby on the way back (his dog is Robby, we have a Mrs Molly up the road and we are probably known as Mr & Mrs Sammy :D ). My daughter was quite surprised as she's never met him before. She brought with her the Christmas Hamper that she is always given by her employers which is really two very large cardboard boxes full of vegetables and fruit. We had the esparagus tonight. What we don't use on Christmas day she will take back home. I'm not quite sure what to do with the butternut squash - never seen one before!

Butternut squash also makes a lovely squash soup when baked and then pureed with spices and some cream. It's definitely one of my top favorite soups ever.

YAY! Lucimay! Lurves ya GF!

I'm sore, very sore from shoveling snow. I'm feeling it in my shoulders and neck. Went to pick something heavy up at work and when I did, the inside of my wing (shoulder blade interior muscle) flared up with all sorts of painful noise. Dug my fingers in a bit later to assess the extent and it's swollen and rock hard and tender as heck to the touch. Getting old sucks.

Deer, I've been off the Christmas crazy train for years. It all happened when my stepmother sent me a humongous expensive assortment of lotions, shampoos, spritzers etc. in a scent that made me want to gag and so I went to exchange it (national chain) and found out it was about $200 worth of stuff that was useless to me. I told my family, NO MORE PRESENTS. They were all cool with it. Christmas in the US is no longer a religious holiday but rather a sad statement of our society where people are willing to take out loans and go into serious debt just to prove their superiority through rampant consumerism. I unsubscribed. I send my nieces gifts at random times of the year so they are unexpected and therefore way more memorable and much more appreciated.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Just had a belated dose of the 'millenium bug'. 36 hours of ....no, let's not go there. My insides feel today like they've been through a mangle which, hell, in some ways they have. Do you guys get 'the Noro Virus' in the USA. They recon it's up by 85% in the UK this year. I'm weak as a kitten and have reached an almost 'altered state' of delerium and clarity of mind combined. Weird!

Poor Peter! I had something similar a couple of summers ago - laid me out for a week. Plenty of rest now.
