Sounds good, Lorin. I've got one of those stomachs too! You are obviously much more supple than I am. If I get on the floor I have to get over on all fours in order to get back up again!!lorin wrote:Wow, nothing here since the 1st.![]()
I started yoga today. Really interesting. I am surprisingly flexible for a woman of my age. Just think what all those men are missing.I was very tired but very relaxed after it was over. Three things I noticed;
1. My stomach kept getting in the way.

I need to start doing yoga again. At some point.
And my stomach gets in the way, too.
Oh yeah, so -- how am I? Okay, I guess. Set up an appointment earlier in the week to get the oil changed in the car today. When I woke up, I realized I'd overslept. Called the dealership (the only reason I went to the dealer is because I had a coupon!) and they said no problem, just come in before 3pm. So I got there a little after 1pm. Got going on reading -- finished an Orson Scott Card book we'd gotten in our WFC freebie bags ("The Lost Gate" -- not terrible, but not fabulous either) and started on Hugh Howey's "Wool" omnibus -- and had coffee and a couple of donut holes (the dealership provides free coffee and donuts while you wait) -- and realize it's been a couple of hours and start wondering when they're going to call me. Finally my service manager calls me out to her desk. Seems she'd shuffled my paperwork under a bunch of other papers on her desk, so my car went in really late. So she didn't charge me for the oil change since I'd waited so long.
So, good news: free oil change; bad news: now the day was shot. And we'd intended to run a bunch of errands. Still got most of them done, but still.

On the service writer end of things, that happens to an extent, but I have to say I NEVER neglected to put a car in the works for someone who was waiting.
On other notes, I had an up/down day but there was one funny moment. I was sidetracked this morning before work and had to rush the rest of getting ready. I got ready, jumped in the car, headed in and about three quarters of the way to work thought, "Hmm... why does my shirt feel odd?" Then it dawned on me that I had actually forgotten to put on a bra. At that point it was too late to backtrack so the girls hung loose today. Fortunately with an undershirt, the uniform shirt and a fleece pullover it wasn't that big of a deal...

(Didn't know where else I should really be posting something like this - plus it does indeed involve how I feel today, and have done for about a week now!
)
Aaah, it's been a while since I've posted on here! Although that's mainly because I haven't been able to find any more Gap books after Forbidden Knowledge, or the Last Chrons of TC. (I would've thought those would be easier to find than the originals, not harder!)
But anyway, my sister (currently in Hong Kong; another member of my immediate family must've mentioned my search) gave me Against All Things Ending and Fatal Revenant for Christmas, so I finally took the plunge and bought Runes of The Earth online, (couldn't bare the thought of skipping it, or just looking at AATE and FR sitting on my desk, unread!) and it should hopefully be arriving in the mail any day now!
Exciting times, indeed. Heh, should also be a booster for activity on my part too, which can't be a bad thing!

But I bet the new place feels very spacious, Murrin.
Sarge, Julie's son, and Damelon -- get better, youse guys!
Jenn -- the service writer was *very* apologetic. She's just lucky she did it to me, and not to your average self-important DC resident, who would have handed her head to her on a platter...

Iolanthe - does Vodka & Cranberry count?
I have gotten some writing done recently. feeling it now, that is always a good sign.
talking about taking the 3 grandkids to San Antonio this fall. Seaworld, the Alamo, the River Walk, Six Flags, the Ripley's museum and a Wax Works museum. I plan on checking to see if it is practical to swing up to Carlsbad during the trip. it's only a 3-4 hour drive to San Antonio from here.
we had thought about Disneyland or Disneyworld, but this would be easy logistically and monetarily.
and they have a zoo you just know I have to visit.

I picked up a few Pilates moves that doesn't make your stomach smaller, but it sure gets it more organized!!aliantha wrote:I need to start doing yoga again. At some point.And my stomach gets in the way, too.

I just bought this too. Looks very intriguing. It's probably next in the fiction queue. Unless I decide to read more Stephen King in between. I just read Gunslinger and loved the writing.aliantha wrote: Hugh Howey's "Wool" omnibus --
Oh, and how am I doing? Had a great, but busy, Christmas break. School opens Wednesday. Getting ready for that, including picking out choral pieces. (I'm considering "Some Nights" by Fun., which seems to be very popular right now; but when my daughter started playing them I thought it was either Supertramp, Styx, or Electric Light Orchestra!)

I've half-convinced myself to buy this print to frame and hang next to my computer desk (see pic in other thread). Opinions?

If it speaks to you, Murrin, I say, "go for it." It's not to my taste, but that shouldn't influence you one way or t'other.I'm Murrin wrote:I've half-convinced myself to buy this print to frame and hang next to my computer desk (see pic in other thread). Opinions?

I had a pretty good day. I also posted in my blog about a moment tonight that reminded me of how much a simple random act of kindness can make a difference in someone else's day and how that can also make a difference in your day as well. I want everyone who reads this to do a random act of kindness tomorrow and post it on my blog. I think that would be a really fun read.

Yes, same here. La dee dah.
I like the use of color in the painting. I don't care for the helmeted figure, but I do like the mood of the picture and what it is conveying. I agree, if it makes you smile, go for it!
