Calling All Brits!!
My wife was looking up my father's geneology, and a great-great... was born in Southwark, Surrey, England, in 1615. Ralph Chapman. Anybody from that area?

I would love to hear you pronounce Southwark Fist.
Well, these days it's just a borough of London. In 1615 it was a town on the opposite bank of the Thames, at the south end of London bridge.
I've been there, although it was pretty industrial at the time. Apparently the area is undergoing some renovation these days.

Really? Where'd she find him then? Not on Ancestry - no baptism as far as I can see. Pronounced "Suthak" by the way. The "ak" not pronounced as in "at" mind, more like you would pronounce "uh?" Like Southwell in Nottinghamshire that is pronounced "Suthll". At one time that side of the river was one big bawdy house. Could be the inspiration for The Shades in TP's books. I have interests in Southwark, but not until the 1750s. And, I came here to get away from genealogy!
Edited to add: Fist, Alogy, not Ology by the way.

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!
