where do the turtles think the carrots come from?

Post by sgt.null »

at work I throw carrots over the fence to the many, many turtles living in the creek.

as they can't see me, I wondered today - where do the turtles think the carrots come from?

Maybe they think it's rain. Sometimes water falls from the sky, sometimes it's ice. On a good day it's carrots.

That the carrots evolved by random chance+infinite time.

Or that because they're very good turtles, each carrot is a reward that accrues points to a leveling-up. Soon, they'll be crocodiles.

Or maybe it's that crazy dude on the other side of the wall who thinks he's messing with them.

Should this thread be in the Close?

It has so much potential as allegory...
Focus on where you are going and why.
Never lose awareness of how far down "down" is...but don't obsess about it.

Hmm so if I like both I guess I'm a flying turtle or a shelled gull...

I'm gonna be inappropriately serious here (as usual) and say they probably don't bother thinking about it.

My husband comes in and points out to me that tortoises, on the other hand, would possibly be on to something.
I know this man is really smart, takes the things he says seriously, knows more about tortoises than I do, but I know I don't quite see it for myself... don't quite believe, if you know what I mean.

The turtles probably appreciate the food more than the inmates do. ;)

No Sgt.Null, we shall not.

Maybe the turtles know all the turtles we have saved since living in Texas?

I just hope someone feeds them on my days off. and I would like to think that the turtles we save retain some dim memory of us.
