Welcome back, Cambo. Thank you for the kind words for the members of my household.
Dam-et is home from the hospital after his fourth round of chemo for leukemia. Generally doing well...but the chemo seems to be inducing something similar to lactose intolerance. For a young man who expects cheese to play a role in almost every meal, this is quite the challenge. Dam-sel and I are hoping that it is only a temporary side effect.
Menolly is currently in Pittsburg with her sister. The funeral for sister's husband is tomorrow. Also there is Beorn, who Menolly has not seen since he visited us here last December. Kudoes to Hyperception for finding a way to send the boy to his uncle's funeral and so he could see his mom for a few days.
Not a household member, but encouraged for years to chuck the New York life and come West, lorin is indeed a remarkable and admirable woman. Glad that you (as her claimed-and-beloved Watch husband) recognize this.
Carry on.

Watch Husband!!!!!! Interesting how we both disappeared and both reappeared at the same time. hmmmmm. People might talk. I totally understand leaving for a while. Escapism as its benefits, but there are times when we all have to face the hard reality of the 'real' world.Hello, all. Been away for a bit as I adjusted to several things I needed adjusting to. Being on regular meds for my first time since psychotic episode, diet regulation (NOT my specialty) and other stuff. No offense to all you lovely people, but I tend to use places like this as an escapist refuge when I need to be facing shit I don't want to. But I'm all good now, and I'm back just in time to get properly amped for The Last Dark! Very Happy
Can't you get lactose free cheese? It would seem to me if you can get lactose free milk you can get lactose free cheese. Or yuck....soy cheese. blech.Savor Dam wrote: Dam-et is home from the hospital after his fourth round of chemo for leukemia. Let them talk. We're cyber-married! Nothing inappropriate about us taking a cyber-vacation simultaneously, not matter what those stuffy, "sanctity of real word marriage" people blather about. "God made Adam and Eve, not xXAdamdaman420blazeitfagetXx and SparkleEvey121!" Gah, put a sock in it fundie.Lorin wrote:Watch Husband!!!!!! I feel a constant sotto voce profanity stream annoyance, and this is why:
My wife bought a new faucet, which I replaced only banging my head twice and only one bleeding knuckle. Apparently this was too much stress for the shut-off valve, cuz it sprung a leak when I turned the water back on.
So I pulled the valve and repaired it. Reinstalling it led to the discovery that there was weak point in the old pipe just below the floor. By "weak point" I mean a six inch length of pipe suddenly appeared in my hand, disarticulated from its necessary function and position, while screwing on valve.
I think today may be the day that I scream at the innocent Home Depot clerk that their orange aprons are freaking UGLY.

the difference between evidence and sources: whether they come from the horse's mouth or a horse's ass.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

I've been trying to improve my diet a little by eating more actual meat instead of processed products. As a result, in my freezer I now have 4 pork steaks in chinese style sauce, 3 rump beef steaks, and 5 pork loin steaks... all frozen into single lumps that are seemingly impossible to separate. I can't defrost the whole lot because I would end up having to throw half of it out - that was the entire point of freezing them. Blarg.

Time to invite some people over and entertain, Murrin. Occasions like that will allow you to defrost, cook, and serve a "lump" without waste.
Next time you will know to separate the bulk purchase into portion-appropriate sizes and wrap them for freezing that way.

When that happens, you can always prepare it and then freeze the cooked portion in individual servings for later consumption.
Stuck at Pittsburgh airport. Flight to Minneapolis delayed 90 minutes, causing me to miss my connecting flight to Seattle. Going to miss training as a substitute secretary or Instructional Assistant/Paraeducator at one of the school boards tomorrow. New flight gets in at 8:40; training starts at 8:45. Hoping when I call HR to explain (before crashing out for the day), that they will understand and let me attend a later training session.

Not sure you should be using the words flight and crashing in the same sentence.Menolly wrote: Stuck at Pittsburgh airport. [grumble]
After spending much of the day checking airline websites and updating both Menolly and Beorn on their respective travel plans (Beorn's gates for his Chicago transfer changed four different times for his trip back to Florida and obviously the wheels completely came off the bus for Menolly's return to me), I express the desire to ward off even worse fortune and I get this?
Let's just say I am rather put out!

There are several prisons in Colorado. I have an in-law who works at the one just outside of Canon City.sgt.null wrote:I wonder if I can get the state of Texas to exchange for a prison employee up there?Savor Dam wrote:Sarge, your latest post is yet another reason for me to advocate for you to come to Washington.
