Well, it's all "turn-based" in a sense, although that's still not a good description - it's more "day-based" where you can speed up, slow down or pause the passage of time. (so like, each day can fly by one per second, or one per five seconds, etc. Normally you'll want it to be reasonably quick though) I suppose the closest thing you can compare the combat to is 'Total War minus the real-time battles', since instead of directly controlling troops, etc. the battles are effectively auto-resolved (although not instantly, they take time, that's dependent on troop numbers and morale) based on a variety of factors, such as terrain, numbers, morale, as well as the competence/incompetence of the commanders*.Avatar wrote:How does combat work in it? I enjoyed it a lot, although haven't gone back to try out different options yet. Wish you could save your arena battles though, even just for offline playing.Cambo wrote:I'm playing The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
Hitman Absolution uses it a lot.I'm Murrin wrote:Something has started to bother me in these big name games. What I think of as "detective vision"
Yeah, not a fan myself either.
I'm also getting annoyed with quick time events, but really Far Cry 3 was the first game I've played that relied heavily on them, so I didn't really get all the complaining about them until now.
I saw a compilation of Tomb Raider death scenes on Youtube and several are overly gruesome, like the apparently often-recurringI'm Murrin wrote:And a little further into Tomb Raider, I'm not really enjoying the frequent QTEs that result in a graphic death scene if you miss one button press. In one of them Lara is actually shot in the head right on screen...
Always sound advice for these to be honest. Witness my decision to play Oblivion for now...also, the price will come down in the interim. Maybe I'll even wait for the GOTY edition or something.I'm Murrin wrote:...wait 6 months or so until it's all patched up.
Yeah, this one was sorta inevitable. Still, waiting for the GOTY or Gold edition usually has the advantage of including the DLC too. So...although I'll get it, I'm not really in a rush. Also the bastards have made some of the playable factions (like all the Greek factions) pay-to-unlock.
I was reading something about Dark Souls (I think it's that one) the other day...is that the one where they basically tell you you're going to die all the time?Zeta Prime wrote:Has anyone one here ever played dark souls or Demon's souls?
