I ran it by my husband, but as I thought- too late timing even if I could talk him into it in the first pace.lorin wrote:Hi Ananda! It's never too late, never ever.Ananda wrote: I forgot about this event. Too late now, I think.

I just went through all 19 pages and I'm so damn confused.
I saw a post from Danlo and it mentions money for a film crew?? what's up with that?
Someone dumb it down for me please.

So am I paying $1300 just for the dinner with SRD and then airline and car rental on top of that?$300 for Valle Grande room
$150 bartender services
$80 Donaldson & Co.
$300 possible film crew estimate
$1030 or so plus tax (1300?, I don't know) tell me what you think--I've had some fairly large contribution offers already but we need a bit more-and we need to be completely committed by the 26th
Someone dumb it down for me please.

When I sent money to Danlo it was with the understanding that I would pay my part of the dinner at the event itself...any money I sent to Danlo at this time was strictly to help defray the additional event costs. Of course he is entitled to make whatever other arrangements with each of you that he wants but he definitely told me to pay for my dinner separately at the event.

Yes, it is fairly typical to have a venue charge a base fee (i.e. $150) to set up and staff a bar station that will operate as a cash bar.
OTOH, it makes virtually no business sense for a $150 fee to represent even a one-prepaid-drink bar for a group our size. Plan on paying going-rate for all drinks at the Saturday night dinner venue, folks. This is the correct and sensible choice.

Agree. A few years ago, I organized my pharmacy class reunion and we had a similar charge for the bar set up and bartender. Otherwise, it was a cash bar. It was really convenient to have our own bar so close by.Savor Dam wrote:Yes, it is fairly typical to have a venue charge a base fee (i.e. $150) to set up and staff a bar station that will operate as a cash bar.
