Hi Ananda! It's never too late, never ever.
I ran it by my husband, but as I thought- too late timing even if I could talk him into it in the first pace.

Is that image your dog? Very cute.

Sorry, but I am not flexible enough to cross my elbows.

Good luck, though!

I just went through all 19 pages and I'm so damn confused.
I saw a post from Danlo and it mentions money for a film crew?? what's up with that?

$300 for Valle Grande room
$150 bartender services
$80 Donaldson & Co.
$300 possible film crew estimate

$1030 or so plus tax (1300?, I don't know) tell me what you think--I've had some fairly large contribution offers already but we need a bit more-and we need to be completely committed by the 26th
So am I paying $1300 just for the dinner with SRD and then airline and car rental on top of that?

Someone dumb it down for me please.

That's not a per person cost but the cost of the room for the dinner.

The film crew tapes the Q and A with SRD for putting up online later.

All of these costs split amongst attendees (around 30 officially committed, at last count.)

And is there an easy, centralized way to pay? PayPal, etc? I'd pay up front if so.

I've sent some funds but need to know if it was enough. All this is very vague. 8O

When I sent money to Danlo it was with the understanding that I would pay my part of the dinner at the event itself...any money I sent to Danlo at this time was strictly to help defray the additional event costs. Of course he is entitled to make whatever other arrangements with each of you that he wants but he definitely told me to pay for my dinner separately at the event.

I know that was the case when the dinners with SRD were held at a restaurant. I don't know if the cost of the room is including dinner, or how that is going to work. I'm assuming the $150 for bartender services is for a cash bar..?

Yes, it is fairly typical to have a venue charge a base fee (i.e. $150) to set up and staff a bar station that will operate as a cash bar.

OTOH, it makes virtually no business sense for a $150 fee to represent even a one-prepaid-drink bar for a group our size. Plan on paying going-rate for all drinks at the Saturday night dinner venue, folks. This is the correct and sensible choice.

Agree. A few years ago, I organized my pharmacy class reunion and we had a similar charge for the bar set up and bartender. Otherwise, it was a cash bar. It was really convenient to have our own bar so close by.

What time does the BBQ start on Friday? Maybe we can come out Thursday night so we don't get held over in Chicago for 8 hours and miss it like last time.
