Easter weekend, so no work until Tuesday. :D

Already been out for a run with the GF, (well, she runs, in deference to my age and laziness I just pace her on a bike), now it's off to the shops, then a quick climb.

I just got home from work to find a man standing in my back yard cutting up pieces of wood. This is the back yard surrounded by eight foot walls, most of which are topped with glass shards.

Turns out he's here rebuilding the dormer window on the upstairs flat. When no one from either flat answered the door, he climbed in over the extension. I guess nobody mentioned that the ground floor, including the yard, is privately owned...

Edit: I went and hid myself away in the back room with my blinds closed. I started hearing noises on the extension roof, but by the time I thought to offer to open the gate, he'd already carried all his things over.

still no word on the Ramsey job. :(

going to my first ever opening day (baseball) tonight!

minor league, but opening day nonetheless. Sugarland has a minor league team. have only attended one game prior there prior, but enjoyed it very much.

got to meet Gary Gaetti after that game, he won a world series as a third baseman for the Twins. there was also a power shortage, so while they fixed the problem, they ran the scheduled post game fireworks early for us.

the 22nd was our twentieth anniversary. both of us had to work so next week we are going to the international fest in Houston. the featured country? that land of make-believe : Australia!

Archie Bell will be playing. looking forward to that.

Just claimed my old age pension. From sometime in June I shall have the princely sum of £72 a week, paid four weekly. Next week I plan to apply for my free bus pass. Consequently I'm currently feeling very old.

Personally, I can't wait to be eligible for senior discounts. Maybe then I'll be able to afford to go out to eat again.

Sarge -- Archie Bell, huh? Is he bringing the Drells with him? ;)

Went and got my free bus pass today, and used it, although it shouldn't be legal until Monday, but the chap at the council said I could use it so I did. Found out that I can use it on the London buses too, so I can get from Kings Cross to my overnight hotel for free by using the bus when I come to the US.

Nice! :)

Lost another attorney this week to another job. :( She left me with a virtual pile of emails to file. I thought it would take me hours and hours to get it all done, but I finished it up earlier today. Very pleased to be done with that chore. :)

A couple of months ago, I handed off to another secretary the partner who was driving me crazy and making me think of quitting outright. She's very much a micro-manager and wanted to double-check everything I did for her. After 7 years of working for her, you'd think she'd have built up a little trust in my abilities, but apparently you would be wrong. (Yesterday, the secretary who's working for her now offered to give her back to me. I declined. )

So right now, I'm down to supporting Traveling Guy and one associate. I'll pick up another partner (who is a very nice guy and claims to be trouble-free...) at the end of May, but in the meantime, my job should be pretty easy. 8)

*I'm* double-posting??? Seriously???

Oh, fine then.

So our law firm has a Decennial Club for all the employees (staff only -- not lawyers) who have worked there for ten years or more. The firm pays for a nice dinner for us (with an open bar!), and there's a little program where we make a fuss over the new members and recognize those who are in a milestone year (15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years of service). I volunteered to be on the planning committee. Then I volunteered to write the script -- and got handed a subcommittee to "help" me. (I just wrote the damn thing myself. ) Then I volunteered to be the emcee -- since I'd already written the script, I figured why the hell not?

The dinner was last night, and it turned out to be a lot of fun. I didn't even have to get drunk to calm my nerves.

Good on your firm for honoring tenure. As I posted when recognizing Wayfriend's decade with us, some organizations I have worked for have been really miserly with this sort of celebration.

I'm up at Snowfarm again for a week in the spring. Taking a one week class in mosaics. I didn't pay for it, my rich cousin did, since she won't travel alone.

I am enjoying mosaics. It is a low tech craft which I wish I had discovered before equipping my gla$$ $tudio. I want to find a way to integrate the two techniques. I will be up here again in the fall to take a week of PMC (precious metal clay)

Really love it up here in southern Massachusetts.

Sounds like fun, Lorin. Can't wait to see pictures.

Wow, very nice. I've always liked mosaics - probably due to my fascination with Roman history. Truly a timeless art form.

I sure do wish this forum was more active. I could use some advice. Hell, I wish this site wasn't in it's death throws. Depressing.

I think it looks like a bird or birds with intertwined necks. You are so clever Lorin.
