I'm working at a 3-day gaming convention next week (working = recruitment duty for my WoW guild), and part of me is indeed wondering if my energy is up to it. Work is brutal right now.

It's no E-fest, but I have known most of these folks for 6+ years, and it'll be nice to meet in the real world.

I hope it is as wonderful an experience as e-fest is, Sorus!

I'm exhausted...just finished our big office move today and everything is finally back up and running and online.

Now I have to go to some damned business development seminar or something with the boss tomorrow, and all I want is a holiday.

Tomorrow *is* a holiday for US Watchers. ;)

My doctor appointment that was scheduled for this coming Monday got moved, but I think I'm still gonna take the day off.

I need a vacation.

Have a full month of vacation time accrued, but they won't let me take a week off.

We've been through this before, Sorus. Don't ask. Just tell 'em you won't be in for a week. ;)

Not sure what you do for work or where, Sorus, but I manage a team of ten. Time off is something you earn and are entitled to. I have never, *ever*, refused a team member's request for time off. They have to let you take it.

If your manager continues to refuse, do you have an HR team you can go to?

Actually, the workshop thing turned out to be quite interesting. Still tiring though. Long day.

A cowl. I got a bulky-weight alpaca blend in 3 colors -- light turquoise, tan, and light gray -- and plan to use this pattern: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grace-22

I'm thinking I'll use one color for the background and the other two for the strands of the cable. Should be kind of cool when it's done, maybe. I may have MagickMarker pick up another skein of whichever I decide the background color will be, just to be sure I have enough.

Very nice.

I was thinking about taking a knitting class, as the SPCA offers one for free. I'm not sure if I have the right mentality for knitting though, and I probably couldn't practice at home. (Four cats who would believe anything involving yarn was all about them.)

I'm sure there are patterns for knitted cows at Rav, Sarge. :D However, that's not what I'm making.

Edited to add: Not only are there patterns for knitted cows, but they have patterns for cow hats, cow socks, and cow-spotted sweaters. :D
www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#sort=be ... &query=cow

Sorus, you might be surprised. Neither of our cats is particularly interested in yarn, even when it's moving. You can also put a hole in the top of a margarine tub and stick the end of your yarn through a hole in the top. The cats might still play with the string, but at least they can't chase your ball of yarn across the room.

The rest, I can't help you with. Although once you've learned how to knit and purl, knitting can be quite calming and meditative. :)

What happens when you take an unannounced road trip and forget to tell your plants not to pollinate?

When's the last time kids were left home "unannounced" and didn't try to multiply?
