Displaying alarming Softy tendencies again. Bought a skirt, as it's been stifling hot in the office's back room. It has some kinds of flowers on it. Good gods this is getting terrible. Also I don't know how I'm going to crawl under tables and take apart dusty computers with that thing on.

Maybe I'll drag it over to Ireland JUST BECAUSE. :P

Ha ha! Go it, Softy Frosty. Had to throw a skirt out this week, put it on and it fell almost past my hips! Only wore it a couple of times. Hey ho, the trials and tribulations of dieting. :D
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Little does my poor cat, Bentley, know but that there's a trip to the vet in his future tomorrow. Just a check up but he doesn't like those trips to the vet.

I once wrote out the difference between my PoV - 'I'm taking my cat to the vet'. And my cat's PoV - a page-long rant about being shoved into a box and hauled off to the place where the people who neutered him were paid to inflict further torture.

That was Nimitz, once referred to by a vet as Oh No, Not That One.

He was unique.

Bentley survived. Getting him in the carrier to begin with is the hardest part. Once he's at the vet he just wants to get it over with. Other than very waxy ears he is just fine.

We've had such amazing weather for the past few days that we've had the windows open -- which is practically unheard-of in DC in July. Usually, if you do that, you start out in a bed with dry sheets and end up sleeping in a waterbed of your own making. The temps are supposed to go back to normal here pretty soon, though. Sigh. It was nice while it lasted....

Other than that, I'm doing a three-hour Facebook party to promote my books tonight. Starts at 6pm Eastern (apologies to those on the other side of the pond -- it's somebody else's event and they set the time :( ). Here's a link in case anyone wants to stop by: https://www.facebook.com/events/420096724798770/

That's good. I keep a carrier out at all times and occasionally put treats in it to reduce the fear factor. Though I am down to one ex-feral, and my others aren't too bad about it.

Sorry. Facebook has a function for events. They give you a special page, and you send invitations to other Facebook users, giving them a specific time to show up on the page. They reply yes, no, or maybe, just like in real life -- and just like in real life, they may or may not actually show up for the event. :D

This event was set up by a review blog called OddityReviews.com. The blogger lined up writers of paranormal fiction to host a party every night this month -- a different author every night. Tonight was my night to host. We had a pretty good crowd -- I met a bunch of new readers (who may or may not ever read my books, but whatever  ), and I gave away all the prizes. So I'm calling it a success. :)
