My main idea was to encourage people to check out stuff that they might usually ignore. I'll keep it going for a short while and if it isn't serving any function I'll just let it sit.

Here is what we can do. We can create another topic and "Sticky" it so it appears at the top of the forum. That will have the updated "New & Hot" links and just that post which would be updated from time to time. We can keep this thread open so that Watchers can bring up threads they believe to be "new & hot".

That sounds cool, Orlion, thanks!

If the thread doesn't take off or isn't useful you can unsticky it and let it drift into obscurity

I was thinking the first post in this thread could be updated, but the stickied topic seems like a good idea. My only concern would be how would anyone know the stickied post was updated? If it is only one post, it won't show on the see all new posts list, nor have an orange dot when updated, nu?

Part of my idea was that if this thread was being updated regularly it would nearly always be on the new posts list and near the top of the Gen. Disc. forum. If there are two threads then that should still be the case with the stickied thread acting as a gathering point.

I understand that. My concern is regarding a stickied thread with only one post that is edited to be updated, such as orlion suggested. I don't think that one would highlight as having new info.

That is funny, indeed--a nice turn of phrase. On a slightly more serious note, though, I am really glad that female voices are finding their way back to the Tank--their voices will help turn it into the choir it deserves to be. I still haven't gotten my wife to join here, yet. I'll have to mention it again....

What's even funnier about this is that the post links back to the actual post in the thread, which means he had to go back and edit it afterwards. That is dedication to pulling the p*&s!

I've created a stickied (and locked) clone of this topic to serve as a quick reference to what's trending on the Watch. I'll update it periodically (I'll try for at least once a week) so continue pointing things out in this thread or message me if you want a particular topic to be featured.
