What the hell is wrong with Hollywood, anyway, that Elektra is the only superheroine movie which has been released to date?
What about Catwoman? And I'm pretty sure there's a Supergirl movie in there somewhere...

I admit that I forgot about those two. I know I saw Catwoman but did anyone actually go see Supergirl in the theater?

Well, all the previous female-led superhero films happen to be considered among some of the worst films ever made. But yeah, there's no good excuse for them not trying more, other than just cultural bias.

The cinema-going world needs Black Widow and Captain Marvel to get their own films. (Supposedly there's a Ms Marvel credited in Avengers 2...) The Marvel head's recent statements ("We'd love to see it happen!" As if they don't have to actually make it happen) aren't promising.

Do I hear that Marvel are recreating 'Thor' as a woman? [Shades of 'the First' I'd guess.]

I do think Anthony Mackie has a genuine chance of becoming the next Captain America when Chris Evans' contract is up. (Unless they decide to give it to Bucky, or just recast Steve Rogers.)

Black Widow does, for sure. Captain Marvel may be too new a property for Marvel to risk hanging a film on.

Last I heard there's an Inhumans movie in the works.

Somehow I think this one might be a much harder sell to the general public than the Guardians.

I'm pretty sure Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy are both rebuttals to the idea that Captain Marvel would be risky.

Anyway, Carol Danvers has been around for decades as Ms Marvel, befoe taking the title Captain. She's well established, and her new version is very, very popular.

What I'd like to see, though it might seem odd given how I want to get to more female-led movies sooner rather than later, is a Captain Marvel series launched with an origin movie where the co-leads are a human Carol Danvers and Kree warrior Mar-Vell, with Carol inheriting her powers at the end of the film, and then Carol herself having the title role in the sequels.

The plot pretty much writes itself from the comics: Mar-Vell and Yon-Rogg are sent to evaluate the threat Earth poses to the Kree; Mar-Vell likes humanity and helps them; Yon-Rogg decides Mar-Vell has become a traitor to the Kree Empire because of his attachment to humanity, turns against him and starts plotting to kill everyone; Mar-Vell takes news of this to the government, starts working with Danvers to stop Yon-Rogg; final confrontation with Yon-Rogg at his Psyche-Magnetron results in it exploding, killing both Kree and giving Danvers her powers. Danvers puts on a costume, saves some people's lives, title card, roll credits.

Carol Danvers, the first character to use the moniker Ms. Marvel, first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (March 1968) by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gene Colan as a non-superpowered officer in United States Air Force. After being caught in an explosion with the Kree superhero Captain Marvel in Captain Marvel #18 (November 1969), Danvers resurfaces in Ms. Marvel #1 (January 1977) with super powers as result of the explosion which caused her DNA to merge with Captain Marvel's. As Ms. Marvel, Danvers becomes a mainstay of the superhero team, The Avengers beginning in The Avengers #171 (May 1978). Danvers goes on to use the codenames Binary and Warbird and, as of July 2012, Danvers assumes the mantle Captain Marvel in honor of the hero who gave Danvers her powers.

What? I thought you meant Monica Rambeau, the only Marvel character I mean when I say "Captain Marvel". hrmpf. I see she changed her super name...twice....but oh well. She'll always be Captain Marvel to me.

I always liked her even though she always underused her power.

If they go with a Carol Danvers film, though, they should change her name back to Ms. Marvel. It will trend better with audiences and give more name separation, allowing her to stand out from the multitude of other Captain Marvels (the DC one, included, even though they have now apparently changed his name to Shazam...which isn't his name, you fools, but how he accesses his powers).

Hey, comic book publishers! Just pick a name and stick with it. Quit changing them.

Marvel owns the copyright on the name Captain Marvel. DC are no longer legally allowed to use it on the titles of any of their properties, so that's why it's called Shazam! now. They can still call him Captain Marvel inside the book, I believe.

You guys are all way off. What we needed to see, according to Hollywood, is Aquaman.

The best--worst?--part about the Aquaman movie is that they hired two writers to write two scripts. Are they hoping that one of them would be good? Doesn't it make more sense to hire a great screenwriter to draft one script?

Is DC ever going to get that creative team doing the Arrow and upcoming Flash shows to script a movie for them? Everything they need for both characters is already there: the actors, the writing team, etc. DC need only adapt it a little to go from small screen to big screen and they would have a winner. This bleeds over from the TV thread but Ra's al-Ghul will be in the upcoming third season of Arrow.

Aquaman, if done correctly, could be great.

I'd start him out like JLA : Year One, an actual fish out of water. father who married an Atlantean.

Aquaman

then introduce a pretty good supporting cast.

Mera, his wife

Garth aka Aqualad I aka Tempest

Jackson Hyde aka Aqualad II

the mysterious woman only known as Dolphin

update the team known as the Sea-Devils

and for the villains...

Black Manta

update the original Fisherman

Un-Thing, n early obscure villain

Ocean-Master, Aquaman's half-brother

and everyone? else...

the Atlanteans, a listing of

I have some ideas for the direction they could go...
