Kinda expected, but still shocking. The world is less than it was.
'Tis dream to think that Reason can
Govern the reasoning creature, man.
- Herman Melville

I am Lazarus, come from the dead,
Come back to tell you all, I shall tell you all!

"All creation is a huge, ornate, imaginary, and unintended fiction; if it could be deciphered it would yield a single shocking word."
-John Crowley

I saw the news when he died. I would probably put 100 Years of Solitude in my top 10 books of all time.

I've been meaning to read Love in the Time of Cholera for a while too - I really need to get a copy of that.

A few people have told me that they didn't get into it, but it really grips me, and even though I know it already it's one of those books I can read over a lot of times.
