Some of the models are so bad like the toy soldiers in the crashing vehicle, that you force yourself to ignore so as not to ruin the thrill of a great story being told.
Negatory. Given the era it was released, the effects really aren't that bad.

And narratively, it's one of the best action movies ever made.

I think the word "bad" was the wrong word to use.

In a documentary about the making of Terminator, it said that they had run out of money so the last scene with the Terminator's head, being crushed in the press, was actually made from ordinary kitchen tin foil and small electric lamps for the eyes. Someone off camera blew cigarette smoke into frame to complete the effect. lol . With the right lens and filtering, lights, sound, music, clever editing, and all the other jiggery-pokery, the final effect is really quite seamless.

I laugh, not because it's silly, but because they got away with it.

On paper I would probably hate The Princess Bride, but it's such a damn good movie!

What is it about the Princess Bride that would make you hate it?

Having watched it, nothing, but when you look at the story and the setting, etc. it just doesn't seem like something that would appeal. But when you throw in Andre the Giant, Spinal Tap and Columbo you've got something special there.

love Terminator, though Predator is likely my favorite Arnold movie.

Boondock Saints was so bad Julie and I stopped watching after 20 minutes.
