Haruchai Women

Post by Creator »

In ALL the books, we've never seen a Haruchai women ... but we've heard about them:
The One Tree wrote:"...women who call to us in their longing for fire and seed and offspring. The limbs of our women are brown from sun and birth. But there is also a whiteness as acute as the ice which bleeds from the rock of mountains, and it burns as the purest snow burns in the most high tor, the most wind-flogged col."
I wonder if we'll encounter them in the Last Chronicles. Why have there been no warrior Haruchai women in the Land? The Giants had the First. The land previously had men and women in the warward.
Spoiler
 Unless like dwarves of LOTR, the women look just like the men - and they've been here all the time!
What do my fellow Watcher's think. I've seen no topics on the "gentler" sex of the Haruchai!!
Why is that a spoiler?

Anyway.. No. They live up there in their happy little Mountain world. I would be seriously disturbed if it turned out that Brinn, Stave, or any of those other people were women. That's just.. wrong. 8O

So what we're saying is, is that they got wicked tan lines. :)

Tan line... ROTFL!

Actually, I'm curious about what all those women think of being ditched like that. I mean, I would NOT be pleased, to the point I'd go looking for the splitters to give them a piece of my mind.

Probably there are still Haruchai men up there. Remember with the Bloodguard? They were only 500, and since they could send a replacement every time someone died, they must be more. :)

Just to see who would look.
;)

We decided at brunch yesterday that the Haruchai women must be real naggy. Do this, do that, etc. So when they called for volunteers for the first Bloodguard, every man there was waving their hand in the air saying, "Ooooh! Oooooh! Pick ME, pick ME!!!!!" :-)
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

LOL

Why else would they be so willing to beat each other up in order to be able to go?

I've always had a feeling that the men and women has vastly different roles in that society...the men fight and defend, and the women are the ones who make hearth and home...while the men do all of their training, fighting, etc. (and before they invaded the Land, IIRC, the two tribes were always at war with each other) someone would have to obtain food, firewood, raise the kids, etc.

So maybe the women have the right to nag.

Could you imagine, tho? Nagging via "mind-meld"?
"You just wipe that blank look off your face, Mister High-and-Mighty Bloodguard Candidate! Until you're chosen, you still have to take out the trash!"

He thinks, "Man, that harridan -- I cannot wait to get out of here."

She thinks, "I HEARD THAT!!"
Kinda gives new meaning to the term "Amazon", doesn't it? :haha:

Nagging via mind meld __ what a horrible thought! I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that image! :hairs:

Maybe the men were secretly relieved to leave -- and maybe the women were secretly relieved to have them gone.

Can't believe there are three topics with the same name... I'll have to send a couple of them to oblivion!

Probably, but annihilating them would be so much more fun!

What will probably happen is I'll re-name them and call it a day.

I guess I can't expect anybody who's Ur Dead to care much for resurrections, but at least you didn't offer to call me "Elena". ;)
To avoid Desecration, I promise to do my utmost to keep these revived threads away from Fangthane and the Illearth stone! :ct06:
