Another way of getting dogs to eat their medication is to crush it up and mix it with peanut butter in the dog's food bowl. They generally tend to eat every last bit of peanut butter.

Yep, works with cats too, although tuna and mayo is a good one for cats.

What, no comments in almost a week?

Can't be having that.

I'm tired. Pulling a lot of OT the next couple of weeks.

Not been posting around here as much lately. Most of the posts in Gen Disc these days are either pointless empty stuff or posts about how many posts we're making, so I've not really been inclined to read most of it, nevermind reply...

Aye, the quality vs. quantity dilemma is perplexing.

I completely understand the motivation of those who are trying to resuscitate the Watch by driving post counts up...but just as CPR involves blowing more carbon dioxide than oxygen into the patient, posting for the sake of post count may not be the most efficacious approach. Watchers, whether they have the kind of tenure Murrin has or if they are new, may not be as engaged by numerous posts of less-compelling content than they might be by a smaller collection of truly worthwhile posts.

Still, in CPR, the smaller amount of oxygen can suffice to revive the patient. Attempts must be made...

There are days when I'm just throwing stuff at the walls to see if anything sticks in an attempt to keep conversation moving.

I don't seem to have the talent some have for creating captivating threads that encourage mass participation.

Yes, that is an unsubtle hint - not to anyone in particular, but everyone in general.

If you're not into the current conversations, what do you want to talk about?

Speaking of cats, I have a very miserable one at the moment. As I've mentioned, she's half wild, although she has been coming to me for years. Since my new ginger turned up and moved in, she hasn't been sleeping with us any more, (although she didn't much) and only comes by to eat at regular but inconsistent intervals.

Anyway, hadn't seen her for two days, then she arrived yesterday with a foot so badly infected that it was swollen like a little balloon.

Vet, x-rays, antibiotics, etc. etc. (Ouch) And the upshot is I have to keep her in for two days until she can go for a follow-up to check the infection is broken. I've never kept her locked in ever before so she is really upset.

She got the cone off in a few hours, but she's locked in my study (the other cat still has to be able to come and go) and she wants out. :(

My brother in law committed suicide on Saturday. It's Tuesday afternoon and I still cannot begin to process it. There are times when I'm ok and times when my brain just jams.

We are planning to be there for the funeral, in fact they are waiting for us. We are doing a zillion things one has to do before leaving your house and job suddenly for 3 weeks and going overseas. And all the while it's like... what the h3ll just hit me...

I wish he knew before he died how important he is. We literally don't know what we'll do without him. No one had any idea how bad his world was.

Yeah, that would be kind of out of the blue. :(
That would make it difficult to process.

Thanks for the love. In a couple hours we are leaving for the US. I've lost people before (who hasn't) but this is different. Processing will take a long time, I can see that. Every time I think of back home I see him in the picture.

Makes me take inventory of people in my life who need to hear what they mean to me.

Yes, it's all too easy to think of doing it but not actually telling people. Sometimes I wonder why we hold back.

I am going to do that to someone today.
