Sad.

I bet Death came in person to see him off...or at least sent Mouse-Death to represent.

Well, that's devastating. :(

I was saying just the other day that there's a Discworld quote to fit any situation.

I stand by that, yet I can't think of a good one right now. :(

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

Sad news indeed, although allegedly Disc World will live on, it will never be quite the same.

I'm absolutely gutted. The man had that rarest of combinations, a razor-keen intelligence melded with a creativity that sparked more brightly than an arc-welder, all tempered by a gloriously funny sardonic self-deprecation.

No other prose has ever made me properly belly-laugh out loud so frequently. No other novels have entranced and held me captive so deeply. And no other author has ever just forced me to think so furiously and profoundly about the core issues of human existence - whether truth, crime, war, death, religion or whatever - wry examinations of which actually underlie all of Sir Terry's books.

Favourite books? Almost impossible to choose from such an embarrassment of riches, but Reaper Man,The Fifth Elephant, The Thief Of Time and Thud are all sheer masterpieces.

Favourite characters? Oh so many... Sam Vines, Lord Vetinari the Patrician, Granny Weatherwax, Arch-Chancellor Mustrum Ridcully, the Librarian and of course, DEATH Himself. Utterly brilliant creations.

I honestly believe that no other author has given us a more cogent, perceptive and simultaneously bitingly acerbic yet genuinely funny insights into the human condition. I will miss Sir Terry and his exquisite ironic imaginings dreadfully.

He is single-handedly resposible for getting at least two generations of children interested in reading and literature, a fact that numerous teachers and educational professionals have attested to. That's a legacy to be truly proud of

Today, the world is indeed a poorer place. Rest in peace, Sir Terry Pratchett.
Newsflash: the word "irony" doesn't mean "a bit like iron"

Shockingly, some people have claimed that I'm egocentric... but hey, enough about them

"If you strike me down, I shall become far stronger than you can possibly imagine."

From his official Twitter account:
AT LAST, SIR TERRY, WE MUST WALK TOGETHER.

Terry took Death’s arm and followed him through the doors and on to the black desert under the endless night.

The End.

DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, TERRY said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.

I envy that, a little. I'd like to have it all to read again for the first time.

You have exclaimed “Pull the other one then!” or “With bells on!”
I hadn't even remembered that was where that came from.

Heh. The reason is psionics. Of course, like all areas of human creativity, there's some terrible stuff, and a whole bunch of mediocre stuff. But there's also some greatness. A couple of them rank among my favorite books ever, and a couple others aren't far behind.
