Yeah, it's been a great season. I liked your earlier term "nebulous" better than "lazy." I think the narrative has often been thin, but I don't think it's lazy writing. They focus on characters, which is how I like a story to be driven.

I like how Boyd is being portrayed as a bad guy again. I think the writers made him too likeable for too long. He's the racist Nazi cracker who blew up a church and shot an innocent co-conspirator in the back of the head in season one. I've never believed his "reformations," no matter how much his snappy dialog made him fun to watch.

"Lazy" was a poor choice. After Season 2, the show just seemed to wander without focus. There was still the great dialog; the stories just didn't seem to go much of anywhere.

What's impressed me is how much Wynn Duffy's been fleshed-out. Jere Burns looks like he's having a ball with the character.

I'm glad the show is going out strong. This season might even beat out the second season.

As for the last episode, I did not see that coming. The Mikey bit, sure, but... Do wish we'd seen more of Loretta's great aunt than that episode.

Great balls, yet another fantastic episode this week.

Is it strange that I've become a huge Wynn Duffy fan this season?

Yeah. Even though they've been ratcheting things up all season, to me, this episode felt like the first where it wasn't really a full episode by itself. More like a two-parter. The finale should be excellent.

Duffy's an interesting character. At first he was just weird, which makes sense, since "Dixie Mafia" also seems pretty weird to me. I didn't expect his character to stay around (or alive). But now that they've fleshed him out, he's more unique than weird and as real as Gunderson or Rachel, if not more (despite filling Art's shoes this season, Rachel's character never got explored as much as Gunderson's did last season. Too bad).

Speaking of balls... that scene with Raylan and the Colorado Kid. Damn. I suppose they're saving it for the finale, so it can end like it starts. I'm thinking:

Considering that his shirtless appearances have increased exponentially this season, maybe it's a little strange.

Seriously, they were scraping the bottom of the barrel to get him out of his shirt. Mikey spills guacamole on him?? That actually got written into the script?

Teasing aside, I agree with all the praise. And yes, Duffy is cool. I remember that actor from Dear John, a sitcom in the 80s. The same smartass delivery, even back then.

Well it's over. The ending was satisfying too. Not out-of-left-field, not smirky, not stupid, and not lumberjack-y.

The final season was spectacular.....I'd argue that it's up there with The Shield in that regard.

Yeah, it was a decent ending. No real surprises but plenty of choices made that were not predictable. No gut-punching moments but no letdowns, either.

The showdown was interesting. On one hand, he was fast enough to get a shot off, but on the other... Not sure if he was going for the brain or just shot high like he mentioned earlier. Both?

Though I just pieced it together now: that was Boon's hat. I figured they were just playing with the good/bad white/black motif, but considering what he says about it in the first season (and the finale) and all Boon's going on about the hipster's hat (which Raylan apparently learned about), it makes more sense.
