So anyway, still whiling away my time in the US. We spent a week on the road visiting my immediate family members which was great. In spite of my tendency to worry about them they were all doing pretty good. My mother has been fighting cancer for over 3 years now and I am absolutely blown away by her courage and awesome attitude. She is 82 and knows that eventually cancer is going to win, but NOT TODAY. :Hail:

But now we're back with Stag of the Dawn's family where the dysfunction never stops. 8O And we had a White Easter. I lived in Vermont by choice for a number of years, but my metabolism is now set on Africa and I don't understand why people live in the cold!!!

yikes.

I had a fun Easter.
Then I had my birthday chemo session on Monday. (!)
Happily, I slept maybe 10 hours last night, and I feel pretty good right now.

Happy birthday, Linna! :)

Soooo the Denver thing sounds more and more like it's gonna happen. The secretarial manager asked for my resume yesterday, and asked if she could share it with our recruiter. Of course, I said yes. Duh. There may be a quick trip of two weeks or so out to the new office, too, in the very near future (Cag, are you listening?). We'll see how it goes...

So it looks like it'll be the week of 4/20, for a couple of weeks at least. Batty's already on notice that she might be put in charge of packing up the apartment, and she says she's good with that.

I'll believe it for real and for true when I have a ticket in my hand. But yeah, my 16 years of "temporarily" living in DC might almost be over...

I knew there was something comic-bookish about it!

Had a very stressful couple of days helping Stag sort through his brother's personal effects and dealing with a couple of meltdowns on family member's parts. Stag had to clean up his brother's blood because no one else had done it and he didn't want it there anymore. His sister called freaking out about something so we went to see her and we all ended up crying together.

Death just sucks. But on the other hand, it is part of life. The sorrow I feel and see in others (esp. Stag) is terrible but there is a beauty in it. Or maybe that's just my way of dealing.

Here's to life. (There are times I sure would like to cash in on almost 20 years of sobriety, and this is one of them.)

I'm with you Deer. Everybody dies. Most of what we mourn is for ourselves.

I feel like when I (and if)die I am missing the end of a story. I will never learn how it all ends for earth. Its like shutting the book in the middle.

On other subjects I had to send helldog away for a while. She is too rough and I am afraid she will jump on me or pull me and cause damage. I miss that monster so much.

I feel weird about Ali moving away. It was always nice to have her fairly close even though I never went to her house she always came to mine. This just gives me motivation to make my move to NM. The only one left in drivable distance here that I know is Eric/Fist. He and his wife are wonderful but I need a group. I am thinking about the end of October but worried about the weather and moving all my stuff if it snows.

I never thought Ali would move before me. :?

Maybe it would help to think of that classic line from "Airplane!": "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue." ;)

Aww. :( I bet she misses you, too.

Well, get yer butt in gear, missy! I've waited 16 years for this, and I'm not sticking around for you! ;)

It really *has* been 16 years. A few years ago, one my friends even asked me whether maybe I hadn't sort of outgrown the idea -- the implication being that if I'd really wanted to move to Denver, I would have found a way to do it by then. Of course, at the time, she was trying to convince me to move to Indianapolis to be closer to her....

Speaking as someone who is familiar with lengthy temporary situations, I wish you the best of luck and I hope that it's everything you want it to be.

And Lorin, I know the feeling. I'm the last one left of the SF group.

There are WoW folks in the Bay Area, and that's nice, but it's not the same.
