How do you feel today? v. 3.0
Moderator: Orlion
Deer, I hope you and yours are doing ok. It is a subject I have to avoid so I hope you will forgive me and not interpret it as not caring.
I feel good today. Got to sit in the sun for a few. Did some writing. Did some glass. Feel like I might actually make it to my 60th birthday. I get Mya aka Helldog back tomorrow. I am thinking of giving her a nice little Benadryl with her treat so she can be calm. Nobody call Peta on me, ok?

I had a fabulous day. Got up, had a nice brunch at Flying Star, their new red curry coconut chicken bowl with mixed veg and jasmine rice. Then I stopped by Danlo and Lady Tam's place to plan dinner, went with Danlo on a Costco run, back to their place and cooked them dinner ala Dorne consisting of cheeses, crackers, olive medley, citrus heaven with tangelos, star fruit, horn melon, passion fruit, mango, grapes and blood oranges. Then we had ahi tuna marinated and grilled with sautéed baby asparagus, washed down with Prosecco spiked with fresh squeezed blood orange juice and dessert of lemon cakes. There was also lovely prelude and post conversations about events past and present in the books and show and contemplation about upcoming events.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Sounds like a great day indeed, Jenn.
We had great weather this past weekend. I mean, I guess we did. I spent both days chained to my desk, writing.
I spewed forth nearly 15K words over the two days. Hoping to get as close to 50K as I can before the firm actually decides about this "two weeks-ish in Denver" proposal. No further word on that today, but that doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for that ali!!aliantha wrote:Deer:![]()
Maybe it would help to think of that classic line from "Airplane!": "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."![]()

And I totally get that.lorin wrote:Deer, I hope you and yours are doing ok. It is a subject I have to avoid so I hope you will forgive me and not interpret it as not caring.

Thanks for that too.linna wrote:
Brought home a kitty today. Patches is old, probably a teenager. But she needed a home and we needed a cat to keep the rats and scorpions down, and besides we really like cats.

Yay for new kitty. Double-yay for new senior kitty. It's always heartbreaking to see senior kitties come into the shelter - cats that have usually had one family all their lives and are bewildered by the change. Fortunately it's a no-kill shelter and they have a safe place to stay until they get what's hopefully their real forever home.
Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

How'd you know?
I feel pretty bad for neglecting you guys. I'm writing to you from a hotel room in Denver. Yes! I made it!
Arrived last night and had my first day at work today. Good day, too. Not too crazy, despite it being the first day at an unfamiliar desk, etc. And I can see the Rockies from the desk where I'm sitting, which is even better.
Now that I'm here, I have gained a little more intelligence about the situation. The woman who I'm subbing for is thinking of relocating permanently, according to the office manager (I didn't get that sense from the woman I'm subbing for, but then the subject didn't actually come up). But the office is going to be growing like crazy, so I think that even if I don't end up working with these specific partners, there may well be a place for me here. In any case, everyone's very nice and it should be a pleasant two weeks.
Other than that, I'm about 5,000 words away from winning Camp NaNo. I'm pretty confident that will happen this week.
Then I've gotta go back and tweak the first book in the duology. The fun never stops...

Feeling rested now. Had a very busy time of late culminating in the big family history fair at the NEC Birmingham - four days there.
Frosty arrives here on Friday and I expect she will wear me out walking the castle walls, and Flag Fen but I am looking forward to it. We will see both the Magna Carta and the Forest Charter at Lincoln Castle - a first for me.
Congratulations Ali. I know you have wanted to be in Denver for some time. Lorin, I have been following your trials and tribulations on FB. Hope you are feeling better now. I do miss you guys. It's getting on for a year now since I was with you all.

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!
