Whatever that part is called, getting the other half of the formula out of this group is like getting a tooth pulled...

I know that was said in jest, but I have to answer that no, it isn't even close.

Oh, I was serious. I was wondering if the two "states" programmed were in opposition to each other. Catatonia and whatever the opposite of it is. (Or near opposite or whatever.)

Oh. Sorry. :(

Anyway, a stimulant is not something I normally associate with tooth extraction. (You must have a real sadist of a dentist...)

But the clue does... :) I will also say that I seem to recall that the description of her discovery was quite good, with the transformation of the initial sensation to the final. Short, but oh so sweet.

One setting of the zone implant was for sleep, and another setting was for the "pain-to-pleasure" conversion, I think.

That is close enough to what I was looking for without digging out the book for an exact quote that I'm going to give it to you. The actual sequence of discovery was something like:

.
. (some experiments)
.
Sleep. (check)
.
. (other experiments)
.
Pain. (check)
(try in panic to get rid of pain, accidentally hit Sleep without turning off Pain first)
Pain + Sleep = Extreme Sexual Desire/Ecstasy

A peek into the second Gap book confirms this, IS! (And I was just guessing off of the top of my head, too!)

Anyhow, thanks for cutting me a little slack on that one, IrrationalSanity! Looks like we've traded places, as you now have command of the Mordant's Need trivia question!

Okay, my new Gap Quiz question is:

What did Hashi Lebwohl hear that convinced him that the strange game Warden Dios seemed to be playing was actually aimed at Holt Fasner?
(I'm looking for what was said, who said it, and to whom.)

Here's my first hint: Hashi hears this while in pursuit of a "kaze".

That whole passage was intense, but I don't remember exactly what happened in that scene.

Here's another hint: this happened at a meeting of the GCES.

Hint #3: the kaze's name was Nathan Alt.

Hmmm, was he the disgraced captain (or something) that ended up working for the chip manufacturers on security?

He was indeed, Avatar. In this situation, Hashi is pursuing Alt and recognizing him as a kaze at the GCES meeting when he hears a statement from a colleague that convinces him that Warden's political game is aimed at Holt. "As a result the complex question of Hashi's own loyalties was simplified."
What did Hashi Lebwohl hear that convinced him that the strange game Warden Dios seemed to be playing was actually aimed at Holt Fasner?
(I'm looking for what was said, who said it, and to whom.)

...Got the answer? ;)

Okay, I'll relent a bit on what I'm requesting. Hashi realizes that Warden's game is aimed at Holt because of what Koina Hannish says at the GCES meeting to Abrim Len and Cleatus Fane. So now I'm only looking for what was said.
