Linna, laundry is good. It means you have clothes, water, and family to wash for. :) and the good health and strength to do it. You are in my prayers!

Sarge, Broken relationships never really seem to go away.

lorin, ENJOY!! You deserve this.

As for me, I walked on a beach yesterday and found cool rocks with my Dad and Stag of the dawn. It was beyond therapeutic.

So two days ago some of my old staff called me to tell me my former co-worker and friend Maggie had passed away suddenly. She had retired at the same time I had to leave the job. Maggie was a very simple woman, uncomplicated and easy. She ran recreation for the clients. Her rec room was filled with parakeets and plants, sll abandoned by clients when they left the apartment. She always talkd to me about moving to the country and caring for animals. When I came to work at that shelter 20 years ago she was there, cleaning rooms and feeding abandoned cats in the backyard. She was one of the few staff that welcomed me when I arrived and we remained friends ever since. She lost one of her sons 5 years ago in a car accident and had one other, that lived with her and her cat and her bird and her two jack russel terriers. Maggie was always good with the clients, always advocated for the underdog but never cared for herself. Never. She got sick in April, and found out she was riddled with cancer. But she never told us she was sick, she didn't want to upset anyone and died of hear failure two months later. I am sad that I never got to see her when she was sick and dying. It hurts the living to not have any closeure. It's almost like suicide. Now I am in Europe and cannot attend her memorial service. I wish her peace wherever she is.

Sorry, Lorin.

It's been a pretty rough year. Hopefully the second half will be better.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

it's already getting better. Mike (Uss) just met up with me in Barcelona. Tomorrow we are seeing Gaudi stuff, apparently a must while here. I also would like to see the ancient roman tunnels they uncovered in the old city. Will tell you more after I see them, if I see them. Meeting some friends on Thursday night for late dinner then on Friday we board a cruise ship through the mediteranean. Turning 60 and doing it with style.

will post pics as they come in. at least I will try with this little ipad.

Sounds good Lorin. :)

It's bloody freezing here. Winter was late, but it's hitting full swing rapidly. (Well...the mornings and are damn cold. Highs are not too bad yet.)

We're having some slightly unusual weather. Although typically English, people I meet still say - It's too hot, it's too cold, it's too windy, will it rain, do I leave the mac, or do I take the brolly...ya de ya de ya!
Mainly cloudy mornings and sunny afternoons sums it up.

So I waited for the warm afternoon sunshine before going out. I'm needing some natural glue so I went looking for a pine tree in some woods not far from where I live. Sounds easy? Nope! Couldn't find one - nowhere, nohow!
Will try again, somewhere else, tomorrow - maybe - if the weather's good.

Board a ship to Gianthome, then, as pines loom not half a kilometer from the cavernous dwelling of mine. ;)

Why not venture to attempt some ice-hole swimming and rolling naked in the snow after saunaing, and I am certain you shall acquire a thicker hide. :P

Thanks for the offer - it seems such a bother,
And a hullabaloo, for a penny of glue.
To be sure, there's a pine not too far from mine,
But for now I shall not, the afternoon is too hot!

I may be a tad terse
While writing in verse.
However:
Heat-struck journeymen
Those pining for pines
Would enjoy, I verily ken
Gianthomish midsummer-times.
The cool, salty Baltic breeze
Sea lapping against cliffs granite
Fifteen Celsius highs all minds ease
Hop on, do not only imagine it!

Oh the very idea of a wide ocean clear,
And a Giantship neath sparkling stars,
Is a temptation complete,
A dream sweeter than sweet -
like the drumming of a thousand guitars!

Still I must decline, such an offer sublime,
For tis here that My Lady doth sings.
From a pine wood so near,
Her music I hear -
tales of miracles and wonderous things!

Today, I am glad
There has been a burst of verse
In this prose-worn thread

I did not do it
Had no involvement at all
But it warms my heart
