Finished The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor last night. This is a prequel to Who Fears Death and though it's good I'm still not entirely sure what to think about it (except that Who Fears Death is a superior work). I'll still check out Lagoon next week when it's finally released in the US.

I'm always recommending these books. I reread them regularly and like you my favourite is the 2nd book. Now that GoT is coming to an end I wonder would HBO consider having a go at these!Avatar wrote:I'm on Servant of the Empire now. These are such good books.

Mistress has its moments too, I must say.
Now however I'm faced with the realisation that once you start reading Feist, you have to carry on.
I've skipped the Riftwar books, having read them so many times, but have started the Riftwar Legacy books, beginning with the first, Krondor: The Betrayal.

I just read Superposition, by David Walton. It was a lot of fun. Good descriptions of things like superposition and entanglement. And, being scifi, they find a way to make those quantum things work in the macro world. Heh.
Now reading Avogadro Corp: The Singularity Is Closer Than It Appears, by William Hertling. Only a third into it, and liking it. It seems a guy unintentionally makes an AI while working on a program. I think the blurb says it becomes a problem.

Read the first two of the Hunger Games series. I'd seen the films, so not a whole lot extra to be gained. Light and pacy and YA. I must check out the next film in the series as it's been out a while.
Also most of the way through No Present Like Time by Steph Swainston. It's the second in the series. I haven't read the first one, but it's doing fine as a standalone. A couple of interesting twists to it and she writes quite densely and well. Decent fantasy fare.
