Pretty much. Just silly stuff, in sync. I could give examples, but most of it is of the you'd-have-to-be-there nature. And the raid leader was usually a wee bit drunk when such things were proposed. But it's fun. We actually haven't done anything like that yet this expansion - too focused on raiding right now.

I was just commenting on that on the WoW thread (in between dodging stray tumbleweeds) - it hasn't even been a year since the last one.

Nah. If anything, it seems rushed. It's nice to have some downtime, but I guess that's not popular opinion.

That's probably true - subscription numbers are down again. There was a big peak after the last expansion with people coming back, but those people seem to have wandered off again. Maybe they need to stop making things easier - I remember when it took days to gain a level. I remember walking from Darnassus to Ironforge in the snow, uphill both ways, being eaten by crocolisks every three steps. I miss that. When things are too easy, you run out of things to do. There has to be some happy middle ground between hours of grinding and being handed everything.

I suspect a lot of the novelty may have worn off as well.

I think it's a bit of a 'can't please everyone' situation. They have made effort to make questing and such more interesting - but the new zone they added this expansion is really pretty small and the endgame (we're on what they're saying is the last major patch) - is really pretty anticlimactic. So you've sent your followers on a zillion missions and seen all that Tanaan Jungle has to offer - now what?

Grind to hit the new level cap and go on a zillion more effectively identical missions in the new expansion, that's what. :D

ZOMG, where do I sign up?

Yeah, it'll be more of the same. But folks would be disappointed if it wasn't - I mean, that's kinda what WoW is. I've been playing for what - eight years? - now, and the longest I've quit during that time was for about three months. It's more than just a video game - people make lasting connections that often spill over into other parts of the interether (that is too a word) or even offline - not unlike KW.

Of course. That's why people keep playing it. Not to play it per se, but to see their friends, hang out, whatever. And that's why it's been haemorrhaging players as well. Eventually there will probably just be the core of people who did form lasting relationships.

Maybe he's visiting from someplace where it's next July already.

Hey, I'm not going to underestimate Sarge's powers.

Though if he has been to the future I hope he brought back a lottery ticket.
