Thing is, the same rag is peddling the same crap, for the same reason in it's desperate attempt to swing public opinion against voting for Corbyn the next time the UK populace gets to vote. Against all expectations he did really well in the last general election and the establishment is terrified - I mean it, TERRIFIED - that he might actually pull off a win on a socialist platform of policies that would put public interest over that of business in the years to come. They have thrown every kind of spurious shit at the Corbyn wall that they can dredge up in the hope that, come election time, some of it will have stuck. The one thing they haven't tried is the one thing that the public deserve, and that is to put his policies under scrutiny to see if they are viable or not.

I'was just amazed to discover that in eighty years NOTHING had changed!

[For interest sake, the 'Zinoviev Letter' published by the Mail five days before the 1924 election purported to be a missive from a soviet official Grigori Zinoviev instructing the British Communist Party to incite the working class into uprising against the bourgeoisie. Just the reminder that a labour Government might be more sympathetic to Moscow was, in these febrile times, enough to reduce the Labour vote significantly come the day.]

Hopefully the British public know their own minds. I know itsdisturbing but there are great influences among the populous than the Mail .. newspaper.. more people are influenced by talk back radio and tv .. stand up comedians hosting their own shows .. which are mostly centre to left leaning in my experience . People are influenced by more than print media.

Then the general public are still dealing with the ensuing Brexit .. which is not ... nor was it ever going to be straight forward .. and to a significant portion of British industry and manufacturing its a nightmare.

No disrespect to the man, but should Stephen Hawking really be intered alongside Newton and Darwin in Westminster Abbey?

Fantastic populiser of science that he was, and highly respected physicist in the field of black holes - was he truly a 'paradigm changer' in the same mold as the former pair. Let's face it - our world would be inconceivably different without the knowledge of the laws of universal gravitation or evolution by means of natural selection, but Hawking's contribution - great though it is - remains firmly rooted in the arena of 'normal' rather than 'revolutionary' science, and even one could say lodged firmly in the distant ends of the theoretical rather than the 'likely to become practical' at any point soon. Not to be churlish about it - but if we open up the Abbey on the grounds of popularity rather than on world changing contribution grounds, would not comedian Ken Dodd (who died in the same week) qualify for inclusion just as strongly as Professor Hawking?

I think so Pete .. he may have developed the maths to prove multiverse .. thats a big deal

Why do we think modern scientists are less worthy than the greats .. and does it really matter .. hes dead, its not going to make any difference to him .. hes worthy of that small respect.

Of course he should.
Not to disrespect Newton and Darwin---but there's a fair amount of luck in the timing, the "catching on," and other things going on in your paradigm changing.
I've heard a suggestion that others did the gravity work, too---just didn't have the right timing, audience, etc.
I know that's true for calculus and other Newton work. [[His Frenemy Leibniz is arguably [and strongly so] more central to paradigm shifting/future influence than Newton]]
I know it's true for Darwin's work, as well.

And, in a way, if one were so inclined, a decent argument could be made that the big Newton/Darwin things weren't "game-changers" so much as "low-hanging fruit."
[[I wouldn't go that far...but it's not a totally unreasonable/unjustifiable perspective.]]

Hawking must be recognised. I am sure it will happen. Lets hope it is in our lifetime.

Its time for a cup of tea. Strong and sweet I think. I wouldn't want to consolidate a position on any road to Damascus today.

Now strength in tea is a thing that I think can be taken too far. Don't misunderstand me - weak tea is an abomination and not to be tolerated - but tea 'like bark' is bitter and unpleasant in it's own way. In tea strength matters (as in many, if not most areas of life) it is the 'middle way' that is best! ;)

Russel Crowes "Art of Divorce" auction returned nearly AU$4million.
My wife gave me a funny look and I said "Darlin', there's no jockstrap in our shed that anyone is gonna pay $9000 for."

I'm thinking that Japanese Silver Needles tea isn't going to do it for you guys; it's the most expensive tea that money can buy and tastes like water. A case of the Emporer's New Clothes maybe?

Hahahaha .. definitely wouldnt do it for me Pete .. if I wanted water, Id drink water .. 🤢

:LOLS:

Why even market it as tea if all they do is wave a few tea leaves or a tea bag in the general vicinity of a cup of warm warm water

Sounds like dish water would be a mite appealing alternative lol 😂

I wonder why its the MOST expensive tea out there lol 😂

Definitely the Emperors new clothes and ridiculous marketing

Thanks for the tip Peter, Japanese silver needles tea looks cheap at $1 per gram!! Yeowchah. They say it brings out your inner ninja?
A nice breakfast tea (Irish or English) with milk and a wee bit of sugar is great!
If I have man flu (which I am happy to report is a once every couple of years event), then an Earl Grey may do the trick too.
I have spent years as a coffee snob, where I like an authentic Turkish taste, however if I drink it after lunch on a school night I find I cant sleep properly. So tea is good.

According to Theresa May in her statement to the House yesterday, the coalition air strikes on Syria were forensic in their precision, caused no reported loss of life and minimal injury and have significantly reduced the Assad regime's capabilities in respect of further use of chemical agents. In addition she gave an assurance that the regimes responsibility for the recent atrocity in Douma was strongly supported by intelligence - and that the strike was absolutely a 'one off' warning to the regime in response to it's alleged continual flouting of the international prohibition on the use of chemical agents in warfare and absolutely not connected in any way with interfering in the course of the conflict or securing regime change [desirable as that may be].

Under these circumstances therefor it is difficult to argue against the appropriateness and proportionality of the actions and withhold support for her in her decision.

On the first...
OOOORRR>...you have no taste. [or weak/coarse/insensitive taste---or taste-bud bias].
I'm all about the coffee...I have specific preferences, but anything not shitty will do at sun-up. But tea? if I'm gonna drink that, it's all about the flowers/herbs/light flavor...the other shit is just liquid liver---it makes my tongue shrivel and my guts/jaw do the pre-vomit tingle.

On the second---I can argue against it: it was a total waste of millions of dollars or hardware for no discernible effect.
Proportional?
In "proportion" to the OTHER nastiness that's gone on in Syria for most of a decade, a couple chem attacks are the sniffles in a leper colony.
What a goddamn waste---and you should be embarrassed that she followed Trump's lead.
No one's trying to fix Syria [or most other things in that part of the world]
They're just waving signal flags of what they would/might do [also meant to hide the fact they're cowardly, compromised, or incompetent]

See? ;) ;) ;)
Pretty easy to argue against...even if it's not "right." ;) ;)
