Hi! I'm an American, now living in Russia, that has always loved TC! Since then, I've become a Russian specialist, an ESL teacher, and an Orthodox Christian. 25 years on, and still enjoying SRD's whacky vocabulary, although I miss the old Land of the 1st series, and the sequels haven't really made up for it.

Well, I'm not sure you really count as Russian, but zdravstvuite nonetheless, and welcome to the Watch.rusmeister wrote:Hi! I'm an American, now living in Russia, that has always loved TC! Wow! Thanks for all the hellos!
After finding this site just had to pick up and start reading it again.
Re-reading now from the standpoint of one read it as a Baptist kid, continued to enjoy it as an agnostic adult and now with a more mature philosophical view it's interesting the things I come up with. Observing how SRD has changed philosophically over the years will be interesting, I think. Probably have to start a thread...

Now hold on there - I DID like the sequels - just not as much.
The climax to White Gold Wielder was, by itself, almost enough to make up for the depressing tone of the entire second series. I can't imagine a better ending. 'fact, it was so good I even found a couple of good symphonic soundtrack pieces to accompany - try Indiana Jones "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "The Miracle of the Ark" for Foul's claiming of the ring, and Star Trek the Motion Picture's "The Meld" for the formation of the new Staff of Law. Try and see if those 2 pieces are not right on the money for those scenes.
I was just saying that I found the world of the Lords and the Ranyhyn to be a big part of the attraction, and in having them removed "the glory of the Land became much less than it was."
