But the REAL question arises: why, once the electric current or “spark” is gone from the mind that it can't be revived after a certain amount of time? Yet a calculator can be easily repaired if it suffers a "death".

Perhaps death is humanity's fail-safe against the pain created by a nervous system that we so need.

Once we replace the nervous system with something that creates just as complex movement but does not respond to pain then we can stop people from going into shock from broken limbs or wounds--and as long as they don't bleed out too much they could be repaired much like a machine.

Gotta disagree about Stand and Deliver. I've seen it at least a few times, and enjoy it every time. It helps that it's a true story. Not at all like the idiotic one with James Belushi, ending with him and the bad student having a bloody fight that Belushi wins. S&D was great for showing him telling them they could sign up for this very difficult thing, he'd work them very hard and take absolutely no crap, and them all going for it. Good to see people wanting to learn, and succeeding, uh, exceedingly.

I think I disagree. Bravery comes from overcoming fear. You don't even have to know that the feeling you're having is fear, like if you'd never heard or read about fear. Perhaps a child of a tribe of cavemen whose language isn't even developed enough to have a word for it. But he sees some beast attacking, and, though he knows it might kill him if he tries to do X to kill it or drive it away, and this gives him a feeling that he has not learned about from anyone, he does X to save everybody.
